CVS Weekly 8/16-8/23

I really like the AMC card deal. Are movie theater is the only one in town so no competion. Well I feel stupid, we do not even have a AMC theater, ours is Cinemark!

So I'm assuming you can't use ECB's to pay for gift cards right?

So, does anyone know if the Aquaphor by Eucerin would be part of the deal?

I've got coupons for Aquaphor... just curious.

I am so confused. We are getting two new CVS stores in my town, one not far from my home. So tell me, all about this program.

From what I have gathered from everyone's posts, you earn points (CVS Bucks?) for certain products you buy, it that correct?I

These points or bucks are then later redeemed on items in the store for free? Right?

Is the program free?

It's completely free, you get a card at the store and it is scanned each time you purchase something.

The ad has items that earn "extra bucks" each week. Some items are "free after extra bucks," and some aren't.

What we all do is buy those items that earn extra bucks and we try to use manufacturer and store coupons on each item when we can, in addition to earning the extra bucks. Then we pay any balance due with the extra bucks we earned the previous week.

It is entirely possible that after spending $20 of your money ONE TIME, you will not spend more than $1-2 plus tax each time you shop, and sometimes you will get $50+ in merchandise at a time. You have to be disciplined not to buy impulse items and coupons are the secret, so save every coupon you find. I only clip coupons when I need them by filing the inserts by date and then looking up coupons I need (there are databases online and alphabetical lists of coupons).

I also buy things at CVS that aren't "free" such as soda, etc. when the price is less than I'd pay elsewhere and I would be buying that item anyway. Sometimes I spend some of my earned extra bucks on these items because I have gotten ahead by using coupons. Ahead means earning more extra bucks than you spend on a transaction.

Woohoo :woohoo:, the Johnson and Johnson first aid kit IS working for buy 2 get $2 ECB's this week.
The $1 off J&J Red Cross product coupon is in the 8/2 Smart Source. The 99 cent First Aid kit is with the travel size items at CVS.

:thumbsup2Hopefully there are some left when I get out early tomorrow. No 24 hour CVS here and I am too exhausted now to go out tonight....

I am not promising this will work this time, but when they had a Band-Aids deal last time I was able to use Band-aid coupons on the J&J travel kits because they contain Band-aid brand bandages. They worked without beeping. (This was last month.) It might be worth a try if you have any Band-Aid $1 q's.

The L'oreal deal (buy the wrinkle cream AND a cleanser) is actually coded in the system as Buy $20 Get $10. In the past they've just coded those deals as buy 2, get $10, so I tried buying 2 cleansers last night and it showed up as 11.98 towards the deal, $8.02 to go. So really if you wanted, you could just buy 4 cleansers instead of the expensive wrinkle cream. Unfortunately it's not the moneymaker I was hoping for though.

Did everyone else get weird $/$$ coupons this week? I got $7/$49 from the scanner! :confused3 I don't think I'll use it though!

I went to 2 CVS's this morning and one was all out of the J&J kits....and the other had 4 left. I grabbed all 4 along with the free after ECB pens and ruled paper. I also bought the earphones that were free after ECB's. I needed some generic Zyrtec D and when I scanned my card I got a $2 off $10 CVS poducts so I combined that with my $5 off $25....which worked out well. No pencil cases as usual......

Which stores are ready with the new week's deals on the Saturday night before? I've never tried that before. I've been worrying about what I will do when the kids' Sunday School starts up and I can't get to CVS first thing Sunday morning! :littleangel:

Here is a scenario that worked for me for the L'oreal deal.

1 Anti Wrinkle cream 14.99
1 Cleanser 5.99

$5 off IP for wrinkle cream

$1 off q for cleanser
http://www.lorealparisusa.com/_us/_en/default.aspx#page=top{userdata//d+d//|main:home|overlay:_blank|nav|media:_blank|diagnostic}
$4/20 skincare from Ready Fill Coupon book

= 10.98 get 10.00 ECB

If you do the L'oreal deal twice there is also a mail-in rebate for a gift bag with samples. Here is that info:

Now that I look at the details of the rebate I think I bought the wrong wrinkle stuff. I might go back and exchange later this week.

Kmart is having double coupons this week. There was no ad of any kind for Kmart in Sunday's paper and no signs at the store! I asked and she said yes they were participating in the double coupons. So I had the store to myself at 9 am!!

Here are the deals I did. Some are moneymakers, a few were free and lots were nearly free. I splurged on a couple items that weren't "free" but were things we use and some brand loyalty stuff.

Softsoap pump soap (not the small elements size, but the slightly bigger size) 2/$4 (and there $1 off 1 printables out there, so both FREE)
Vaseline Intensive Care lotion $3 ($1.50 coupons out there, so FREE)
Vaseline Intensive Care MENS lotion $3 ($1.50 coupons out there so FREE)
Mead 5 star 1" binder $3.89 (There are $2 coupons today so moneymaker!)
Skintimate Shave gel $2.89 (There are $1 coupons so .89)
Tag Body Spray $3.50 (There are $2 coupons, so moneymaker!)
Bic Twin 10 pack $3.49 (There are $2 coupons, so moneymaker!)
Vive Pro shampoo on CLEARANCE $2.49 (I had a $1 coupon, so .49 and Color Vive is my favorite shampoo!)
Visine $4.39 (There are $2 coupons so .39)
Aussie Shampoo $3.95 (There are $2 off 2 coupons, so these were a little expensive but they are DDs favorite)
Pert Shampoo $2.50 (There are coupons out there but I don't remember exactly how much they were for. These were either Free or money maker so I got these for my brother)
Pert for Men Shampoo $2.50 (Same as above but separate Pert for Men coupon)
Pert 25.4 oz bottle $4.49 (There were $2 coupons so this was .49)
Renuzit air spray allergen variety $1.89 (There are $1 coupons so moneymaker)
Starbucks Frappuccino $2 (There are $1 coupons, so FREE)
Weber Grill Marinade packet $1.29 (There are .50 coupons out there, so .29) - Watch out there is one version of these coupons that says Do Not Double - but there is another that doesn't say that.
A-1 Sauce big bottle $4.99 (There are $2 coupons today, so .99) DH likes this stuff so its worth .99
SoBe LifeWater $1 (Hangtags for .50 so these were free.)

Hope that helps someone.

Maggie
