I went to my local CVS today to buy some nature valley bars. During checkout, I gave the cashier my key card to scan. I have 3 cards on the key ring, one is mine, another belongs to my DH, and one is my mom's. She saw that and said I was only allowed one card and asked me which one I want to use. I told her which one I would like to use and she took my key & cards, went to her manager, they cut up two other cards.

I was pretty upset. Now, what do I do with the ECBs that's on the cards that were destroyed? I don't think I can find the duplicate card for them.

Just to vent, the employees from this CVS had been always very hostile to me, because I pay so little out of pocket with ECB. However, instead of avoiding this CVS in the future, my plan is to do all my "free" purchase there and make sure my out of pocket is as close to 0 as possible.

CVS's rule is to issue one card per household, so I'm not sure why you had a different one for your DH? :confused3

As for your mom's card, doesn't she have one on her key ring or in her wallet? If so, just give the ECBs to her. Technically, they're hers anyway.

They are totally justified. The policy is one card per household. You were breaking the rules. I can see how they would be hostile. I see it as cheating the system to get rewards on multiple cards to get free stuff when thawt is agianst store policy.

We each have our own cards before we get married. Do we suppose to combine it? As for my mom's card, she went out of the country for couple of months, that's why I have it with me.

We just used the point on my husband's reward cards up and then got rid of them. Now we both use mine for everything. We have them from several places. i carry the big cards and he has the key fobs.

With all those cards on your keyring, I hope you can understand why they cut them. I would've too. Maybe they suspected that you were using everyone's ECB's (by rights you shouldn't be even dh's) and getting free stuff. I'm not saying you are but dishonest people would do that also. Thats why the customer ultimately gets screwed, because people take advantage of the situation so the store stops the incentives.

While I agree that you cannot have multiple cards for the same house, they should have asked for them back or scanned them for the numbers so they could delete them. Not take your keys, walk away with them and then cut stuff off your keychain. That would be my problem.

Actually, I believe CVSs rule is one per adult in the household.

Some offers state one per household, but not all.

I would call corporate.

Well obviously to them it looks fishy. To be honest, it does to me as well. I don't think its fair to blame CVS. It IS odd to have 3. When I go on vacation, I ask people to watch my pets & plants not my CVS card.

If you are totally on the up & up, then let it go, and just keep using the one that is yours.

well every person over like age 12 can have one in a household. That's number 1. Number 2 why would you give your keys to anyone??? You hold out your card and they use the scanner to scan it.

for the other problem well dont' you have the 2nd keyfob and a larger card for each of those accts?

sounds like your store hates the ECB deals as is. Just call customer service and complain and you can get ahold of the area manager that way as well.

I'm sorry but that made me spit out my tea. Where is the tag fairy when you need him/her :rotfl2:

Shouldn't it be what do my husband and mother do with the ECBs?

And I would think the first place to look for duplicate cards would be with your DH and mother.

I did hold out my card for her to scan. But then she grabbed my keys and asked me how many I have. I never thought of putting the those cards in seperate places, because I was not intentionally trying to cheat. If I were trying to cheat, I would have put them in different places then. One of the card that was cut up was probably at least 8 or 9 years old. I doubt if I can find the duplicate. As for my mom, she had her card somewhere, but the ECB will expire before she come back to use it.

If having two cards is against the policy, I don't mind them take it away. It is the way how they took it away that made me mad.

:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

I don't have a clue when it comes to CVS cards, but I know that that is freakin' funny!

I agree, that has to be a TAG!

I get their policies, but she GRABBED YOUR KEYS?!!

Yes, I think I use the right word. I had the cards & keys in my hand first, then it is in her hand.
Should I complain to the corporate? The more I think about how they did this, the more upset I get.

Regardless of their policy, I don't think the cashier had the right to grab your keys, and cut up your cards. I'd complain.

Breaking policy or not, they should have informed you that the policy is XXX and they would need to discontinue your additional cards. If the policy is one per household, they should have told you as such and given you opportunity to say that one is your mother's who is in a different house. It's perfectly reasonable to me that someone may have their mother's card if the mother is ill and cannot do her own shopping, etc. (They don't need to know that she went on vacation and you were shopping for her.)

They shouldn't have just taken your keys out of your hands without explaining what they were doing. I would complain. It's not about the cards being cut up to me, it's about how it was handled.
