I just got the Cuttlekids machine for my DD to use but it's really hard to push the plates through, she can't do it on her own and even I find it to be difficult. Is this normal??? Also, are the dies supposed to leave an impression on the bottom plate??? Thanks

bumping for an answer. I know the dies will leave an impression in the plate, it does that on the sizzix as well, but I don't have a cuttlekids so I don't know about how hard they are to use.

Have you tried looking at the cricut.com boards, someone there might be able to help.

I haven't noticed the plates being hard to push through, I have noticed it is hard to turn the handle. Which could be the plate issue. DD (who is 8) sometimes needs my help. She can usually get it through if she is standing up and we have it suctioned to the surface.

people are complaining about this issue on both the cricut board and 2peas. no one seems very happy about it although some have posted that it does get a little easier as you use it. maggie

Thank you for your replies, I will check on the cricut board and see what I can find out. I will just have to use it for a while myself before I let DD go off on her own to use it, maybe loosen it up a bit for her. I don't know if I would really want to sand the plates down, but that would probably work, I'm just a chicken I guess!
