I'm usually the FP "runner" for our family and more often than not I'm waiting for them at the next location. If, by some chance, they got there before me they would wait for me before getting on line. To me, if you are talking about someone getting out of line to go get FPs for the group then that really isn't a FP "runner".

Recently - in the last five years or so - I've waited an hour or more: once at Soarin' over California in the standby line (followed immediately by another ride using my now-active FastPass, followed immediately by another ride using the single riders line - three rides in less than a half hour!); once at Toy Story Midway Mania because all the FastPasses were gone for the day; once at Kali River Rapids because I had a FastPass for another attraction; and once at Expedition Everest (the attraction for which I had the FastPass) because we WANTED to see the standby queue.
