Cuts, cuts, cuts...

Maybe it's just me but I'd take Hyperspace Hoopla over more fireworks at DHS any day.

Its not just you. My take is that they traded something that appealed to a relatively small number of repeat visitors, that they are going to get anyway, and replaced with something that will appeal to a high number of casual guests who are there for one time and will say "Great, fireworks"

Hmm, what does this remind me of...? ;)

She hasn't handed out candy since at least 2012 (when I visited). So she stuck around for 2 years before leaving because she couldn't give out candy anymore?

Yeah...not buying what you or your friend are selling. It may be among the MANY reasons she decided to retire (I've also heard she had some health/family issues), but to blame the no-handing-out-candy thing for her departure is disingenuous at best.

I also believe it was not the ONLY reason, but it is one she has said to several people...she was not happy that she couldn't give it out any more.

She could have also decided to finish out her contract and then "retire".

Did she not for a time continue to give them out but she had to attach a "Not for human consumption" tag to them? Or did she refuse to do that? I forget.

I also remember the complaints from parents when their kids didn't get one, "we were the first ones there...", etc. The same basic thing behind the change to JTA, now with the signups. The FDA regs were nothing new at the time, but I believe the issue was raised by someone and it became a the excuse to change it.

I prefer fireworks.

Someone said to have a parade around WS. I remember the days when they did. It was horrible! That path is not wide enough for the parade and people to walk.

Don't much care that you don't buy what Miyuki herself as said. Doesn't matter one iota to me. She probably had a contract to honor...who knows. Don't think I said that was the only reason....just repeating what she has said.

I have to think that what you post is more likely. She did tell people not to eat the candy...just to look at it. I know that when my dd got her creations, Miyuki was saying that the 'candy' didn't taste very good!
I think that Disney wanted to do away with the 'act'...so they came up with excuses that made it hard for her to stay. I doubt this is the last time we will see an 'act' retire from WDW. Kind of sad. Those acts/shows were/are part of what makes WDW so appealing to people. I can ride Spaceship Earth just so many times...but I can watch some of those performers over and over. Take them away and it's just not the same experience for me.
I guess I now sound like the FP+ haters!!! Fewer performers change my experience!:lmao:

With the Star Wars Weekend 'Hyperspace Hoopla now discontinued (http://wdwnt.com/2014/02/star-wars-weekends-discontinues-popular-hyperspace-hoopla-show/) the line of recent WDW cuts gets bigger; joining the ranks of PUSH, Ziti Sisters, Miyuki, 'legacy' fastpass and so many others.
Ive seen less cuts in a barber shop than at WDW over the last 12 months. So, what does the future hold?

Do you think the future of WDW is more cuts, less 'magic' and more misery; or do you think that the cuts are starting to draw to a close and everything that has been cut will be replaced by bigger and better things?

Hoopla is being replaced with new offerings including fireworks. They are also extending the event by adding another weekend.

PUSH was due to a contract dispute between Disney and the owner of the property. It could just as easily been the owner who walked away or had unreasonable demands. So to "blame" Disney is shortsighted.

Miyuki left on her own accord and was not "fired" by Disney, though Disney did have to put some limitations on her show which she did not like.

The AK parade can not be run while construction is going on due to the backstage areas. It is a side effect of the park expansion. There have been multiple rumors that, after the expansion, there will be a new nighttime show at AK. Also, if nothing else, I would not be shocked if a new parade was being worked on at this time.

Legacy Fastpass was replaced with FP+. Doesn't matter if you like the new system or not, it's not like it was just removed with nothing in its place.

Yes, I know that making a post that lists all the things disappearing from Disney is a way to "get a point across". And leaving out information is a way to make one side seem more important... but it doesn't help anything. At least including the information as to WHY things have happened.

Fewer performers change EVERYONE's experience. :(

Miyuki wasn't the last. The Ziti sisters were terminated. I hope the WS Players aren't next on the list...

"misery"? Are these changes THAT bad that we can classify them as "miserable?"

Sorry, I have to say that I feel people just WANT to be mad at Disney and are choosing to be unhappy about the recent changes. While I am not thrilled (really will miss PUSH), none of these changes are truly effecting my vacation THAT much.

I would like Disney to recycle the best bits of the defunct DHS Pixar Parade, the AK Jungle Jamin' Parade and the current Magic Kingdom parade.

They could call it the "Fantasmic!" parade. Same concept, different venue...

Well, I am very sorry that they are discontinuing the Hyperspace Hoopla...we have video from the two times that we saw it and were looking forward to that when we go this May/June. Actually, it was the one thing I was looking forward to the most because it changes every year...always something different. Fireworks tend to be the same thing over and over again. Don't get me wrong...I love the fireworks...but there was something about the HSH that was also new and different. RIP Snig and Ooplah.

ou have a lot of information there that no one else seems to have. Has all of that been documented or are you on the "inside"? This is the first I have ever heard about the bad candy, and also about the contract dispute with PUSH.
The PUSH contract thing has been fairly widely reported. For example:
http://www.orlandosentinel.com/the-...sh-talking-trash-can-20140210,0,2158081.story

Losing HH is a bummer, but it was getting increasingly hard to see as its popularity increased. Moving to fireworks and whatever this new thing is sounds like it might be worth a try.

The Ziti sisters were terminated.
This was a cost issue, but also one that was responding to what the guests in the park actually want. The film studios unit had been paying for the Frozen Meet & Greet in epcot. When that funding ran dry, Epcot could either discontinue the sisters, or cut something else so that they could keep Anna & Elsa.

What I find amusing is there seems to be some sort of thinking that every time Disney makes a "cut", an accountant is deemed to be in the background, rubbing his/her hands and shouting "yes, yes, yes!"

A "cut" means Disney did it to save money. But really? There are things and people no longer at Disney World. However, there are things and people that are there now and never were before. So, take out the scales and put every single thing and person removed or no longer there onto one side and then every single thing and person now there on the other side. Toss out every single thing and person who have been there since the very beginning. Every single thing and person. I have a feeling the scales would be tipped well over to the positive. Every single thing and person.

And if someone can come up with that complete list, I'd be surprised and impressed.

If the fireworks they are putting place instead of the Hoopla (which I thought was little silly) are the same ones they did the special show of last year on May 4th, then I am ALL for this change.

Geeze, don't you know it is more fun to pile on Disney and proclaim what they are doing wrong that it is to know the facts????;););) How dare you ruin yet another Disney Stinks rant!
