Cuts at the parks didn't trim fun

Story posted on OrlandoSentinel.com about how the cuts the parks made didn't affect the fun at the parks. Great article.

One interesting observation I've made is that while all the parks made cuts, Universal Orlando is now in a hiring mode. They are looking to fill several positions. The positions run the gamut from seasonal to full time.

I love how they talk from both sides of their mouth. "it (Disney) does not compromise customer satisfaction in the name of savings." Yet they reduce hours, shows, menus, entertainment, ect.

I'd feel a lot better toward them if they just was honest. Admit they made cuts that could reduce customer satisfaction but promise to bring back the level we not only come to expect but pay for when times get better.

I don't believe that making some cuts in operating hours results in guest dissatisfaction. There is always something to do at Walt Disney World. The parks aren't the only thing to do.

Understand that this economy affects Disney just as much as every other company and possibly even more. Making these cuts is the responsible thing to do. When companies make cuts like layoffs does anyone believe they do so with pleasure? Of course not. It's a simple reaction to the economic conditions that currently prevail.

I own a business and I have had to make cuts too. It wasn't fun nor pleasurable but if I had failed to do so, I may not be in business next year. Making the cuts that most businesses do when the economy tanks is pure survival.
