Hi Everyone,

Could you please tell me at what age your DD got her first haircut? My DD turned 1 on Monday and I have never cut her hair. She was born with a lot of hair and never seemd to lose any at all. DS got his first haircut at 6mo old. I like girls hair long and boys hair short. I can put her hair up in a pebbles flinstone do..but that is about it. So please tell me what age and if you did cut it how long did it take to grow out?

I have 2 DDs, both of whom were born with full heads of hair. DD1 was 10 months when I cut bangs in because her hair was becoming a hazard, and she would not keep rubber bands or anything in her hair. At almost 5 (b-day in Dec), her hair is well past her shoulders, and I have cut more than 6 inches off twice!

DD2 is 22 months and has not had a haircut yet. Her hair was not as thick or troublesome as sister's. Also, she does not pull rubber bands or barrettes out like her sister did.

I guess the only thing my experience can tell you is make your own choice. LOL

My DD had very little hair as a baby and we let it grow a LONG time before her first "real" cut. I trimmed her bangs but her first real hair cut came at age three. She had long, thin, light brown curly hair then. Now (age 10) her hair is THICK, shoulder length and dark brown.

If she needs the haircut, go for it. Be sure to save a lock for her baby book. :)

We did DD at about 2. We only cut it about once a year to even out the ends. We did the pebbles thing for a while too. Now, at 4, her hair is down to her waist.

My wife trimmed the bangs on both my daughters, but we didn't get them real haircuts until around 4. Of course that didn't keep them from cutting their own hair with scissors (my oldest while in school at 6).

My 4 year old has never had her hair cut. It is very long and blonde :).

my dd didn't get her first real hair cut until she was 5 and then she got it cut shoulder length and donated the rest to lock of love. We got it cut chin length this time and donated it once again. We went with chin length to even out her bangs so her hair and her bangs are all one length. My mom use to cut her bangs everytime she saw her,(much to my anger) so its taken this many years to finally get her to leave her bangs alone and let the whole thing grow out one length. Her hair is very blond, very straight and medium weight (just the kind of hair I always wanted as a kid)

My dd was 8, almost 9 years old when she got her first hair cut (she donated 11 inches to Locks Of Love when she got it cut).

Both of my DD had lots of hair when they were born. They both had their first haircuts at about age 5. My youngest got hers cut at the barbershop on Mainstreet in MK. It was awesome. She got a special set of Mickey ears, a certificate, and pixie dust!!

I only have boys but I didnt get my first haircut until I was about 7 or 8.

My two ds had their first hair cut at 1 year old
Now my dd's the oldest now 17 had her hair which was to her bottom and she got it cut at 13 yrs old and had it cut serveral times after that, now she has it almost to her waist again.
My dd that's 9 yrs old has only had trims on the bottom of her hair and it's past her bottom she can sit on it and both dd have very thick hair and wavy, curly,
Kim

My dd Ashli has never had her hair cut. (Unless you count the time that the neighbor boy gave her a 'trim' over each ear with bunny scissors when she was a year old, lol). Ash's hair only reaches 2-3 inches below her waist. It would probably be longer but she perms it, curles it, irons it, well, does all kinds of things to it every day. On the upside she gets more compliments over her 'hairdos' than about anything else.

I trimmed my DD1's hair until she was 3 1/2. Last weekend she went for her first ever big girl hair cut. She did great. I felt like she was finally old enough to sit still. When I did it at home she would only hold still for a few minutes at a time, but that was okay. I could trim the bottom one day, to her bangs another. She sat up straight and tall the whole time through both cutting and drying.

My DD is 4 and a half and except for trims has never had a hair cut - it is waist lenght and she calls it her "Rapunzell" hair. :D

edited to see if I can get the picture to work

My DD is 23 months old and hasn't had a 'real' haircut. She doesn't have banges because I don't like them, and refuse to make her have them. I have trimmed her hair when she lets me just to get rid of split ends, not very often, and DH laughs that I don't know what I'm doing. She's always had tons of hair since she was born. Right now, she'll wear two bows or barretts, one on each side to keep her hair back, but will not let me do ponytails or pigtails. I think her hair is cute. I also don't think she'd sit for anyone else to cut it either. So, for now, its just growing. I'm not going to let it get to her waist, but I like it long and back too. Maybe within the next year she'll be up to getting it cut. We'll see.
