When we went in 2002, we were able to get DD a name badge with her name on it. And we found it in the shop behind the Christmas shop where they personalized everything. We returned to the same spot last year to buy one for new DD and they were not available anymore.

Is there anyplace that I might find them? It's so great the way the CM and princesses talk to my oldest and call her by name because of the name badge.

Thanks for the help.

The Guest of Honor badges are still available. There is only one type. It is red with Mickey on it and says 2007. You can buy them at many locations, but only a few do the engraving. The "ice" room of Days of Christmas will engrave them at no extra cost. You can also have them done at Celebrity 5 & 10 at MGM.

Thank you so much. I don't know if I just didn't see them last year or if they just brought them back. Thanks again for your help. My youngest DD will love having her own name badge.

Is there a website that I can order a name badge from before we go? We are surprising the kids with this trip, and doing a scavenger hunt as our reveal. I thought the badges would be a good prize. TIA!

I got mine from LaughingPlace (dot) com and it was just a few dollars more than the regular retail b/c they actually go and have them done at disney. I got one for everyone! DD4 is so excited -- she said she can't wait to be a cast member when we go to WDW 9/6.

Take a look, the tags came out beautiful.

When did they get rid of all the other types? Up to and including my last visit, Disney had at least a half-dozen different styles of GOH badges, including Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Pluto, Malificent, Princesses, and a few others I can't remember. During the Happiest Celebration on Earth, there were also special HCOE styles available at both WDW and Disneyland.

They have only had the one style for at least the past three months. I heard a rumor (and it is only a rumor) that their engraving machines are old and they are considering not replacing them. It is possible they will phase out the badges.

I found some on ebay at: your_WDW_store They have several of the retired styles, with free engraving. I haven't bought any yet but am considering it. They are more expensive than the laughing place 2007 ones. Decisions decisions......

I have also found badges at mouseshoppe DOT com Looks like they say Disneyland though. They have a bunch of retired merchandise at their site. There are a variety of characters on the badges. Good luck deciding :)

I find that odd, considering that it was only about 2 or 3 years ago that they radically expanded the selection of GOH badge styles.

Maybe the badges just aren't selling very well these days. Sales would have to be pretty low to justify not replacing those machines, though. I know they're not cheap, but i would imagine Disney just upping the engraving fees before getting completely out of the engraving business. Besides, those machines probably cost less than what Disney gives away in a week on DME or free dining.

While that is probably true, the sales on GOH badges is probably a drop in the bucket compared to other merchandise and the engraving is a big pain to the CMs who have to do it. You can't imagine how many of the badges get ruined due to the machines. I've talked to the CMs at Days of Christmas about this and they will not even engrave a badge that they don't stock in the store unless you agree it will not be a problem if it is destroyed. Those being purchased on Ebay are an example. The machines tend to skip and ruin the badge. If you bring in one badge that they cannot replace, they won't want to engrave it.

It is not always about the money.
