We are taking our friends to WDW next year during Thanksgiving break (taking advantage of the awesome MVMCP and Candlelight Processional stuff that we enjoyed last holiday season) :)

We've talked at length about going with them, but they think they're going to have to "save up" to go. Little do they know, we're giving it to them as a Christmas present ;)

Anyway - we thought we'd order some of the cute custom shirts from Disney.com and wrap them up to tell them the news.

Any ideas on what the shirts should say? We'll probably get the Seven Dwarfs "christmas tree" shirt and I want to print something on them that is clever and cute :) (For us and our girls as well as the two of them)

Thanks!

We are surprising our daughters with a trip to Disney this December. I just placed an order from a company that makes personalized Disney shirts/sweatshirts etc. I ended up getting two white sweatshirts with Mickey on it, the girl's names and SURPRISE! written on the bottom of the shirt.

The shirts just came in the mail today and they look great.

Here is the website for the company:

Now, for more planning with the surprise! Have a great trip!

My DH and her DH surprised her mom (my DSIL) last Christmas with a trip to WDW for all she had helped them in the previous year with the baby. She made up a really cute poem about how much they appreciated everything her Mom did for them, and how much they love her and that they wanted to repay her in the best way they knew how. )I wish I could remember the poem!) ANYWAY... she found a kit to make your own jigsaw puzzle on the computer. She put a picture of the castle and the poem on the transfer that came in the kit, stuck it to the puzzle with an iron let it cool and broke it apart. I helped her do it and it was really easy. Then she just wrapped the pieces in a small jewelry box and gave it to her. She didn't want to arouse suspicion by having us there but she videotaped her opening it. Her reaction was really touching as she started putting enough pieces together to figure it out... then she just started crying she was so excited. Cost of Puzzle, about $3, cost of poem and pic, free, cost of her Mom's reaction, priceless.

What a wonderful thing, Kala! That was very sweet of your DSIL to do for her mother. I love the puzzle idea!

I thought about ordering some from Zazzle.com, but wanted a holiday one.. didn't like the designs they have available. I don't know what I'll do now.

I would love some ideas also. We want to make some shirts for the whole extended family trip this Christmas. There are 10 of us.

We ordered sweatshirts from Disneystore.com early in the year when they were on sale. We got the Mickey n' friends Christmas theme. Disney is pretty selective about what you can say on them. We had to say The Jones Family at Walt Disney World, Christmas 2004, rather than what I submitted at first (I don't remember what it was exactly). Six in one hand, half a dozen in the other, I suppose. They do look nice, though. We've had them since May! Can't wait to wear them.

Yes, we had planned to do the Disneystore.com ones, too. $30 for a sweatshirt, $19ish for a tee. (It will be Nov/Dec, but it was still short sleeve weather when we were there last year so I think we'll do tees).

I like the Christmas ones they have - the Mickey skiing with a Santa hat...the Dwarfs...and the Pooh one is okay. I think we want the Dwarfs but the colors seem really light.

So, they were kind of pissy about the phrasing?
I was originally thinking we'd say something along the lines of "The Smith Family and Jones Family Do Disney" but it says you have to say "in" or "at" and that it has to be spelled out completely...Disneyland or Walt Disney World.

hmmmm

Still thinking...any ideas on what to write?

They also have REALLY pretty embroidered shirts for Grand Gatherings! You can embroider a name on the front and on the back (Like "Mom" on the upper left hand chest by the Grand Gathering logo and then "Jones Family Meets The Mouse" on the back.

One year when we went with our entire family (14 of us I think) we made T-Shirts for the entire group. We got T-Shirt transfers and created them on the computer. The title of our shirts was "The Top Ten Reasons to Go To WDW" We then listed 10 reasons to go. We had a family planning dinner to finalize plans for PS's, etc., and we all threw in ideas and decided together. We put things like, "Hoop Dee Do Review","E-Ticket Night", "Por Favor Mantengese Alejado de los Puertos" (we had to look up how to spell it, and now I've forgotten) "We own stock" etc. We picked things that were meaningful to us as a family. We then created smaller charachter transfers to place around the larger list in the center, charachters that were specific to the person whose shirt it was. We all still have those shirts and occaisionally wear them to dinners. It was a little time consuming to make so many, but it was fun.

How about something like
Smiths' and Jones' Family Vacation
Walt Disney World
December 2005

We did them for my sons 1st Birthday that we celebrated at WDW
DS said ~ Today is my 1st Birthday; Walt Disney World; Date
DH and mine said ~ Today is my sons 1st Birthday
Grandparents said ~ Today is my grandsons 1st Birthday
These drew in lots of extra attention and made the day even more special.

We took my niece and nephew one year and gave them the trip for their birthdays two months before we left. We taped mylar disney ballons and surprise ballons (the strings) to the bottom of the box and then wrapped the box. When they opened the box the ballons popped out - they loved it.

You could make the shirts and wrap them in a box with balloons.

How about you write on the shirts

Smith and Jones

We couldnt' find any really cute Christmas shirts that we liked and wanted something special so I ended up making them :o) I found a Christmas picture of Mickey and Minnie and printed it off on tshirt paper on our inkjet printer (they sell these sheets at any craft store) and ironed it on to a sweatshirt. It turned out WONDERFUL! I got the idea from my best friend who does it every year. She gets her family portraits taken in them at MVMCP and everyone has the exact same tshirt so it makes for an ADORABLE picture!::MickeyMo

big lots has the DISNEY iron on fabric transfer sheets on sale for 3.99. it has 4 transfer sheets and a disney print studio cd in it! the cd says it has 4 fonts and mickey mouse winnie the pooh, toy story2 and the little mermaid designs. i'm hoping to be able to make some shirts for our cruise next year. i don't know what to write on them either, hopefully the kids can come up with something cute.
