Custom made/designed Ear Hats?

I dont know if someone on here might do this but I am toying with this idea. I want a special "Sweet Sixteen" Mickey Ear Hat for my DD birthday trip is October. I was thinking like cover a classic Mickey ear hat with a girly fabric and add some sparkle with rhinestones. Or possibly just cover the entire thing is Rhinestones! Does anyone here do something like that? If not do you have any tips or suggestions for doing it myself?

I haven't seen it done, but it sounds really cute. I am sure it would make your DD stand out and feel special for her birthday. I think the covering with rhinestones made hold up the best.

What about a Mickey/Minnie Ear Headband, have you seen those? I think they are so cute. Disney sells Minnie Mouse ones with sequins all over them in different colors. But people have made their own, its pretty simple and there are tutorials on Youtube, I am currently making 6 pairs for my DCP roommates. You can make them out of any kind of fabric, I'm doing character themed and sparkly ones. You could also bedazzle a hat or do a headband and put sweet 16 on the ears in puffy paint or glitter. I would also suggest check out Etsy.com for people who already make them or it would be a good place to get ideas.

I've made mickey ears before but they were headbands. I am actually going to be doing this project for my trip in march. One piece of advice I have is if you have time, order your rhinestones from ebay. The price is so much cheaper than retail, but it does take about a month to get it.

I made this Rapunzel ear hat by covering a classic hat. It was much much harder than I expected and had I not embellished it with so many flowers/lace, the wrinkles in the fabric would be very obvious. wrapping a rounded object is not easy. I have seen some ear hats that have been painted over, but the Mickey patch did not seem like it was going to come off without some serious damage to the hat, so I just covered it. I painted over the ears with acrylic paint.

To glue the fabric to the hat I used tacky glue. I used hot glue for all of the little accessories like the lace and flowers. I also painted the plastic ears purple using acrylic paint.
