Custom M&Ms - Help

So with barely a month left, I realized that I need to get serious about putting together some sort of welcome bag for my guests. I'm not doing any wedding favors at the ceremony or the reception dinner. I'm looking at the custom M&Ms and the minimum order is 4-7oz bags. We're having an escape wedding, so that's 18 guests (possibly only 15 since 3 are still up in the air.) Will 4 bags be enough or should I order more? I'll divide them up into small favor boxes or cello bags. I just can't visualize how much it will be or how much I'll need. Okay, I'm losing my mind. TIA!

Wendy, A lot of girls here have gotten a few bags of the personalized m&m's and then mixed in plain ones of a different color (lots cheaper!). If you do it that way, 4 bags should be plenty... depending on how large of a container you put them in.

Btw... Jaxteach and Hillary12.8.07 just did these... maybe you'd want to PM them for some quicker advice?

I ordered the little bags already made (you can choose the ribbon color to match your colors), it was a little more expensive, but then I didn't have to worry about putting them in little bags etc.

Anyway, based on their sizes, the little bags have 1.7 oz each. If you buy the 4 7oz bags you could have 1.5 oz per person (assuming 18 people). That's actually a good amount.

I was thinking about doing this too, but the shipping (alone!) to Canada is $62, so I think not now.

Anyway, based on this site:

it looks like there are about 1.7 oz in a regular bag of M&Ms. If you have 28 oz (4*7 oz bags) then that's about 1.5 oz per guest. If you have 15 guests, that'd be almost 1.9 oz per person. I think that sounds reasonable.

Also, I looked around online and I found the code friend2008. This may or may not work, but if it does, it might give you a free bag. They often have free bag promotions if you wanted to continue to keep an eye out.

Also, you could always bulk them up with unprinted M&Ms, if you later decided you didn't have enough.

i got mine from the link on mousweddings. for 50 mini boxes (the cardboard favor boxes from michaels) i used exactly 11 bags. but i didn't think to mix in regular m+ms...
