I have read through many, many pages of the cake thread and can't quite find an answer to my question. Hoping maybe someone can help me.
I got my son the standard allergy safe cake last year. He is not peanut or tree nut allergic, just dairy and eggs. I know these things are totally subjective, but, in my opinion it was not good. At all. It is strange to me because at Chef Mickey that morning they brought him a birthday cupcake with his egg free breakfast - and it was yummy. Typical white cake and frosting - just dairy/egg free. But the cake I ordered from the cake hotline, honestly couldn't eat more than a bite. DS ate the frosting off and that was it. It was supposedly vanilla, but it was dark brown and almost tasted like a spice cake.
I am wondering if anyone has ever had success with one of the pastry chefs at the hotels making a special recipe cake for an allergy? I'd like to get him something special, a themed cake, but it would need to be dairy/egg free. We are staying at BLT so it could be delivered to our room there. We also have ADRs at Citrico's, Be Our Guest and Narcoosees. So I could utilize the GF bakers if anyone has had a good experience with them.
TIA for any help you can provide.

Should have made that more clear in my first post. Sorry.
