If so what type of foods did you offer for cocktail hour and the meal? Do you mind telling me about your menu and estimated price perperson? We were thinking about dinner but w/ bar and cake it is pushing $150 + per head! :confused3 We would perfer to lower that a bit if you all know what I mean ;)

Also in the wish book there are mins for certain places like the Gf is $100 min per person before 2pm or whatever is that just for cocktail hour/food or can that min include your dessert and liquor? Thanks again everyone :goodvibes

OK we did lunch - the CH started at 12 and we served 3 types of appetizers:

Duck Quesadillas
Something else and something else LOL I can't remember I'll have to come back to you on that LOL

OK then we served a plated meal:

Lobster Cake with Cilantro Pesto

~~~~~ * ~~~~~
Clam Chowder
~~~~~ * ~~~~~

Tropical Fruits Sorbet

~~~~~ * ~~~~~
Oak Grilled Beef Tenderloin Filet with Sizzled Proscuitto & Smoked Mozzarella Cheese
in a Cabernet Reduction
or
Marinated Oak Grilled Chicken Breast with a
Madeira, Cherry Compote
or
Portabello Mushroom
All served with:
White Truffle Mashed Potatoes
Chef’s Selection of Vegetables
~~~~~ * ~~~~~

Certainly our $75 minimum for lunch at Ariel's included all the food and drink and dessert the whole day of our wedding :)

I hate that- most of the time I heard you do not even get to eat your cocktail hour food! can't they save you a plate or something? Everything sounds sooooo good! The prices are so much lower than in the wish book! I HOPE WE CAN DO SOMETHING SIMILAR! everything sounded so good I hope you got to eat! :teeth:

LOL I know, anyway here you go Mary:

Duck Quesadillas with a Smoked Tomato Salsa
Caribbean Spiced Pork with cream cheese
Crabcakes with Dijon Dipping sauce

And yes our EM did save us a plate with one of everything on it for us - he brought it out to us with a glass of Fairytale Cuvee for us to enjoy before going in for our main reception.

We are doing a brunch and it is a wee bit cheaper. In fact I was told that my dessert party counted toward our total F&B min, since we are having the Illuminations party as a last event on our day. We got rid of the pre-reception/cocktail hour. For me that is $500 I can spend somewhere else. We are going to have a variety of breakfast foods, but lunch items as well. We are going to do the buffet thing since I think that that would be easier. Also for the kids, we are are going to do the children menu. I think it is going to be around 50-60 for the brunch, but the kids around 20 something.

So you do not have to do a pre-reception--that's good to know, that will save some money!
And the dessert party can be counted towards your food minimum for the reception?
Sorry, just making sure I understood you correctly :)
Thanks!

Yes the Dessert Party WILL count towards your minimum's as long as you hold it on the actual day of your wedding.

That's right ou do not have to have a pre-reception cocktail hour but remember that if you are shooting pictures after the wedding your sister's other guests will need to be entertained or fed and watered. If pictures are done before the wedding i.e. the bride and groom see each other then there will be less time needed after the event so you can go straight to your reception with your guests.

Thank you so much Sam. I know that they don't want to see each other before the wedding, but I also don't think she wants to do the pre-reception--oh well, she'll have to choose :)
