The times I've driven by the parking lot of my local Curves, I've never seen anyone of my size coming out of the building, and I worry about fitting....literally! I have around 145-150 pounds to lose. I'm also very nervous about exercising in front of other women who are much smaller than I am. However, I know I must get over the self-conscious, self-centered nature of that line of thinking and get started with something to change my life for the better.

Will any of you share your Curves experiences with me?

Thanks! :flower:

I say go for it. I was very self concious when I joined about a month ago. I should have never been worried as everyone there is so great. I have met many great women who are all trying to do the same thing as me. Get in shape or stay in shape. I have around 125 lbs to loose and I am super happy I joined. Need anything at all please do not hesitate to ask.

Hi Diane,
We have a girl at my Curves that was 310 pounds and in a year's time she has lost 120 pounds and 92 inches! You don't have to be ashamed of your weight because the people that go to Curves will encourage you so please go ahead and join .

I've been going to Curves for over two years. I can assure you there are women of all ages and sizes. It's a pretty comfortable atomosphere and I encourage you to JUST DO IT!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Good luck!! :wizard:

I am actually joining curves this week and am too a little nervous about excercising in front of everyone. I have a hard time sticking to a diet so I thought I'd give curves a try...wish me luck.

FYI There was a flyer in my local paper saying if you donated a sack of non perishable grocery Curves would waive the sign up fee. Might be worth checking in to. If I wasn't packing up to move, I might have given them a call!

Good Luck, PaulDavid's mom!! :cheer2:

I'm nervous too, but.......

I'm headed out the door, with groceries in hand, and I'm going to my local Curves! I should be there in about 15 minutes! I'll be posting in my journal (Diane's Journal) to let you all know how it went.

I was a member of Curves for a year and loved it. The people were friendly and helpful. The manager had lost 100lbs and kept if off for several years. She figured the best way to stay in shape was to work in the exercise industry. Our Curves had challenges & added two new machines the year that I was there. Its a painless way to get your workout over with quickly.

Like others have said....women of all sizes go to curves....and Ive felt self concious! My mother and I go there and workout together...I am there to lose about 10 lbs, tone up, and recondition myself (Im about 165 lbs). My mother is there because she needs to lose weight for medical reasons (she is about 240). Neither of us have any problems with the workout...as it is adaptable to everyone of any size or fitness level! I may run in place or do jumping jacks on my recovery platforms while she just walks in place.
