We will be in Orlando for 6 nights..planned on 4 days for each of the parks and one day for SeaWorld. trying not to plan too much so that everyone doesn't get too exhausted. which of the parks should we cut short?? Animal Kingdom?? If so, what are some of the highlights to hit there..we have a 10 and 13 yr. old.

thanks!::MinnieMo

We usually can get through AK in 4-5 hours. If it's hot that day, that works out well if you get there early in the morning. To us it seems AK is more stifling than the other parks, likely due to less air circulation because of the thick foliage. For my DDs, the highlights are Dinosaur, the Kilimanjaro Safari, Kali River Rapids (you will get wet!), and "It's Tough to be a Bug" show at the Tree of Life.

Welcome to the DIS!

I think AK is the park to cut short. If possible, save it for the last day. If your family wants to, they can always opt to go do their favorites in a couple of the other parks. I have much younger kids, but my must do at AK is the Lion King show and the Kali Rapids--though Splash Mtn. and Beauty and the Beast in the other parks are just as good.

With kids that age, they might want to spend more time on Tower of Terror and RocknRoller Coaster in MGM or the Mountains in MK.

In the past when we are going for 1 week. We always limit ourselves to 4 park days only. Meaning, if we are doing another park in addition to Disney parks, then we skip a WDW park. We usually rotate which park we skip. However, MK never is the skipped one.

We find that the 4 full days is long enough and leaves us pretty tired as it is. The 2 other days are really needed to regroup and relax. I think over the years it has helped DS make it through the long, full days at the parks. We did this with our toddler neice last year-- and she lasted wonderfully. No melt downs!!

I agree that AK doesn't require a full day of heavy touring. It can be done in a half day, seeing the highlights & enjoying it without rushing.
Your age kids woould probably really enjoy Dinosaur, Kali & Tough To Be a Bug. I think Festival of the Lion King is a must-see, as well as Kilimanjaro Safari.
