...and I don't mean Dan.:earsboy: Of course, as you can see by my countdown, we are 2 days away from the world...DS woke up today and said his throat is sore:( He is prone to strep, which at this point would be the best scenerio, because 24 hrs on meds and he will feel fine...He also has allergies, so it might just be that...I have been giving all of us vitamins, etc, faithfully for 2 weeks now. Of course both DS's have not been sick for at least 3 months, probably longer. Please, please, please, send some pixie dust my way!! Hopefully, it's nothing, but my glass is always half EMPTY!!

I hope it is just allergies. I'm sure you will get him into his doctor just to be safe.

DD got strep 2 days before we left last time. At least we caught it before we left. We got a prescription of chewable antibiotics and we were good to go.

Good luck!

My daughter and Disney have a Croup Connection. The first time we took here, we spent one "evening - ok 2:00am ish" in an emergency room in the area and it was croup. She had never had it before. Next trip, night before we leave, ER with Croup! Yes, go figure! That is the only two times that she has ever had it and last trip, no Croup, so hopefully she is over the whole thing.

Hope that it is something treatable and that you have a wonderful trip!

Thanks for the responses...My son is also a croup magnet...he is 8 and I think his last bout was at age 7. In all of the books that I've read, they say that kids outgrow croup by 5. His first bout was when he was 3 or 4 months old- SCARY!! In 2001, DS had a bout of strep about 3 weeks before we left for the World, and a few days before we actually left, spiked a fever again. Dr gave us antibiotics to take with us...luckily, DS #2 has only had 1 ear infection, while DS #1 had tubes at 11 months......:(

Same thing happened to us last trip. A day or two before we left, DS5 got streph (AGAIN!). Got him to the doctor immediately and started the antibiotics. He was fine for the trip.

I worry about his taking so many courses of antibiotics. The doctor is sending him to a specialist and they may decide to take the tonsils. He has had SOOO many cases in the last couple of years.

Good luck to you.

Sheila

We have been lucky as far as strep, it is only croupe that plagues us  and I do remember now that when DD6 was around 3 or 4 months old, they diagnosed her with bronchial something or another (which, now looking back, i think was croupe) and gave her a little machine with stuff in it that we had to blow in her face. She was a good sport about it and I cannot complain too much...she has never had to take an antibiotic for anything and the only prescription we have ever had filled for her was a cough medicine when we were going out of town once that we got "just in case" because it looked like a cold coming on. She didn't have to take it, but I agree with your worries about antibiotics. Seems like they are prescribed alot. Our DS18 was exactly the opposite of DD6 and was CONSTANTLY taking an antibiotic for his throat and his ears. Go figure!
