Currently at HoJo

Glad the HoJo came through for you, Kathy. Sorry about your miserable night last night, though. We had a room like that on the very top floor of building 1, on the end nearest the freeway. Never again! Sweet dreams tonight! :cloud9:

Thanks! :goodvibes

I can usually get past most street noise but oh man, that I'd LOUD. I'm glad to read they are thinking of further insulating some rooms. Those are unbearable.

It's really good you can get some rest now.

I hope Hojo gets real serious on noise abatement. I know the road wasn't a big deal when the Hojo was built, but I-5 didn't just get big, busy, and blaring in the last week.

I am thankful for this thread because I was dissapointed we couldn't book Hojo for our dates and now I am so so so so so glad we aren't staying there. I couldn't deal with the service issues and the noise, managers only speak in person to people? and then the management comes here and makes excuses? Ridiculous. thanks for sharing!

I think you are being unfair. Everyone who knows me here knows I am a Disneyland Resort Hotel person, but we have stayed at Hojos. Compared to some of the other off property hotels in the area, you would be LUCKY to stay at Hojos. There is a reason why it is rated highly on TripAdvisor.com and here on the Disboards--and it has to do with the fact that you get value for your money. One person came her annoyed with her 59.00 (!) room, and complained about it. It is her right to complain, but not everyone feels this way. I knew I didn't want to to stay in the room near the freeway, so I paid 79.00 (amazing entertainment rate), and got a Disney facing room. It was perfectly fine--great bed, view of the Matterhorn. I thought I was lucky to get it. I actually think those rooms are worth more. The other hotel I stayed at on Harbor wasn't nearly as good.

And I didn't see the manager as coming here and "making excuses"--there are so few hotel (motel) managers that would come to a message board to personally answer a customer complaint. This is actually very unusual and some good, personal customer service! If you are a regular on this board, you know that many people here have stayed at Hojos and give it very good marks, so letting one person's bad review influence your perception just is not that well thought out.

Let us know how you like your hotel. Which one did you decide to stay in?

For me I think it is worth it to stay on property if at all possible--but not everyone agrees with that.

Hmmm, where did you get to stay? I had the opposite experience she had. Seems unfair to say stuff like that when it is a single complaint and we really don't have the whole story. The place sounded like it was packed as well, could have just been a busy night.

VERY well said! I am soooooooooo happy to be going back to HOJO's this weekend. We've stayed at two other places and I'm not a bit worried about going back to HOJO's. You can't please everyone, and this is just another example of that.

we have stayed in building 1 freeway side umm never again to much noise for us

stayed in building 2 wasn't bad at all

stayed in building 6 a couple times loved it

stayed in building 4 its as great as 6

honestly you can beat that entertainment rate plus the hotel is very nice compared to many others we stayed at along the harbor.

couple weeks ago when we stayed as i checked out they asked how things were and i said great cant beat the entertainment rate.

they asked me if i heard about the changes in booking the entertainment rate and all the cancellations they were getting last minute.

I said yeah read it on the dis boards and told them i understand why they did it.

but i also said im sure if someone booked it and they had some difficult circumstances come up and explained both parties could proably come to a solution without being charged. they said yeah they could work something out.

I really think they care about the customers and i will keep booking with them no reason to stay any where else unless its on disney property. :)

We have always been very happy with Hojo's (can't wait to go back next month!) This forum is Hojo crazy (as you can tell by the almost 1,500 reads on this post alone) and for good reason. After staying at Anaheim Plaza last year I vowed NEVER to stay anywhere else but Hojo (well unless I strike it rich and can stay on property :rotfl:) - it is worth the extra walk!

I'm amazed that there are 4 pages on this topic. It is strange that their seems to be a contingency of folks just waiting for the fall of the mighty. The funny part is that everytime there is a problem that comes up, the management at HOJO's figures out how to make it a Win/Win. They are like the Nordstrom of the hotel business, and with the Entertainment discount, with Walmart pricing. Gotta love that. Anyhow, I am a fan, and don't see that changing as long as the customer service is there.

I'm a bit surprised this thread has lasted 4 pages too. I'm also more amazed that the HoJo evangelists take any disparaging comment on the HoJo as sacrilege. It's a hotel. Sometimes they get it wrong. In our case, they made it right, which I've repeated many times.

I started this thread because I couldn't get a manager on the phone and I know they sometimes read here. They did, and now our problem has been rectified.

So report me. Even if I'm perma-banned it would be worth it. Welcome to my ignore list. Population: you.

:rotfl::rotfl2::lmao:

This made me laugh!

Although at first I was really worried when reading your post I am AMAZED that they went through such lengths to make you happy. They have my vote!

Kathy,
I am glad that you are in a better room now! Are you having a good time? I hope the weather is good for you guys. It is really cold in the Bay Area right now--they even say it may snow in San Francisco on Friday!

How are the parks and the crowds?

Lisa

I'm glad that things worked out for you, but posting on the DIS knowing that there are "Hojo evangelists" out there, you've had to have known that you'd be subjected to comments like these. I'm not surprised in the least that this thread has attracted Hojo fans (full disclosure: include me on this list :thumbsup2). You gotta take the good with the bad...you know what I mean?

Thanks Lisa. We are having a GREAT time. The crowds are much lighter than we expected and the weather has been beautiful though a touch chilly. My daughter and I left my husband at home for a special girl's trip and he has reported that it has been hailing and snowing. Yikes. Now that our room is super, our trip couldn't be better. :)

It truly wasn't meant to start a debate or ruffle feathers. It was a last ditch effort to get a manager to take action. By the time it did, the problem had already been solved.

And truly, my irritation is only directed at one poster. Everyone else has been fine and I welcome almost all dialogue. :)

I've stayed at the Hojo the last 4 trips. I can always hear the freeway traffic. Last time was good .I was in Bldg 2. Before that i was Disney facing Bldg 1 and the traffic sound was worse ( i couldn't imagine facing the road in bldg 1 ) Saying that i always enjoy the Hojo as it has that real resort feal without a car parked in front of my door. I did split up my stay last time with DLH for four nights. Nothing like being woken up at 1:00 am by car alarms being set off for people trying to find there cars. I'm glad i stayed at DLH but probably never again.
P.S. i hope this post makes it to PAGE 5
