Current Youth Activities CM...

2. I'm a little concerned about my child being there without me when other parents are there for open play or to pick up. I wouldn't want other people to have access to my child. Anything you can share that would help me feel more comfortable?

I sailed on the Fantasy with my then 4yo DD in February of 2014. How the pickup worked (to the best of my memory) is that I would go to the desk and tell them I was there to pick up my DD. I believe I then swiped my card. From that they were able to locate what room she was in. I was given a lanyard to wear and the gate was unlocked to grant me access to the Oceaneer's club. I would go in to the room I'd been told she was in, let her know it was time to go and then we would go back to the front desk, still within the locked area. I would scan my card again, she would scan her band and even though our 2 pictures were visible to the CM I was still required to tell them our password before they would let us out of the locked area.

I felt very confident that my DD was safe as there were always CMs in each room and I was only in there a short while.

One time she was immersed in an activity so I let her know she should come to the check in/out area when she was done. I then waited outside the locked area.

Hope this helps you feel better about the pick up and other parents being in that area.

yep, this is how it worked too when we sailed on the Wonder in summer 2015.

KT2038...we cruised the Magic in April and are returning in 7 weeks. My kids are now 10, 11 and 14. They loved the kids clubs except for one MAJOR item...the open houses. I would drop my son (now 10, then 9) at the lab while I went to the gym and come back to find him at the club in a horrible mood because the only thing he could do was sit with 4 year olds and listen to a bedtime story with Tiana. If you are going to have the open houses throughout the cruise, it would be great if you could focus something for the older kids to do when they have to move to club due to open house. It was my fault for not checking the navigator more closely, but it happened more than once and was the only complaint my crew had.

Thanks for all you do to make our families' cruises great!

Hi! I'm sorry your son had a not so good time. As your son is 10, you can give him self check privileges. This will allow him to be able to stay in the lab when it's in open house. If you don't want him to do this, he would have to go to the club. If there is a character program like story time with Belle, we do attempt to get the kids to participate. They don't have to, but the majority of other activities will be shutdown. This is to help those kids that want to do the program but wouldn't if they could keep playing, and also so the character has some kids to interact with!! There will be something else for the kids that really don't want to participate to do for that 30 minutes, but not everything will be open for use.

Hi! Unfortunately we cannot allow an older child into any of the spaces. At 14 they will not want to be in Oceaneers anyway!! They will be able to go to edge and vibe
This is not totally accurate. We were just on a three-night cruise on the Dream. On our Castaway Cay day we had a cabana on SB because our DD is 18. Someone from the Concierge team (we did not sail concierge) called us to see what we had planned for our DS 15. We told them he wanted to spend some time in the kids club with the Star Wars and Infinity attractions since it was going to be an open house. The next day he had an invitation from the kids club CMs to spend time in the club and lab. I am sure there are plenty of older kids that enjoy the kids clubs during open house.

Yes anyone can come during open house. But they will not be able to stay one we go back into secured programming.

KT, I set sail on Saturday and did the online registration for my son. I honestly cannot remember if I chose a password during that or what it is!!! Can it be reset when we get his kids club band at the terminal or on the ship? Or is that when we do it anyways and I'm not actually going senile and not remembering lol!!

Hi, I have asked this somewhere else as well, but haven't gotten an answer. On pirate night, is there pirate-themed programming in the club and nursery? We have Palo reservations at 6, so will be leaving our kids (ages 4 and 2), but they will be very disappointed if they don't have an opportunity to dress up in their pirate costumes. They go to bed at 730, so we will already be stretching bedtime picking them up after dinner, not likely to go to the deck party. If they can't wear their costumes in the club/nursery (or would be the only ones) we probably just won't do Palo. thx.

Hi KT, I have a question about the Friendship Rocks show. My son will be 6 and my daughter will be 10. Can he go with her in the blue t-shirts, instead of with the younger kids In the yellow t-shirts? He would need her to feel comfortable during the separation and walk to the Walt Disney Theater. Thanks!

My DD wore her pirate outfit. She didn't want to attend the show with me so we got her dressed and dropped her off. I picked her up before dinner (we had second seating) and saw lots of other kids in pirate garb. I'm pretty sure I remember seeing a pirate activity or two on the Navigator. You could try looking up recent Navigators for your ship/itinerary and see if anything is there.

Yes we do pirate themed activities and there's ysually a visit from Captain Hook. Lots of kids are dressed up in their costumes :)

Hi! Generally the children are separated. It may be good to see how he goes with the younger kids. the older kids do extra dances. If he really isn't coping then we can maybe transfer either him or your daughter. It just depends on numbers as well.

What is the cutoff age for the separation in the Friendship Rocks show, for future reference? Thanks for all the help!

Haha that's ok! It happens all the time!! Yes you probably did set your secret password but it doesn't matter if you can't remember it. It can be reset when you collect the Oceaneer Band at the terminal or the Club/Lab. Have a magical cruise!!

My husband has a question for you, do they feed you well in the mess? We hope so!
Haha yes they feed us well. The food can get a bit repetitive at times but there's always plenty to eat :) and we get special holiday foods on occasions such as thanksgiving and Christmas.

I'm glad for that, KT! It seems as though you are very happy working for DCL. What you're doing is so inspiring, to explore the world while living and working on a cruise ship. I would have never had the guts as a young person. Thank you for taking the time out of your precious breaks to share with us!

I was just looking at past navigators and 2 questions came to mind:

1. We are second seating for dinner. I saw that dinner is served in the club and lab at 530. If my daughter is there but I don't want her to eat or if she doesn't want to eat, is there an activity or area she can go to to play?

2. My daughter is used to a nap and going to bed around 830pm our time (central). I am sure this is going to be majorly thrown off. Is there somewhere in the club that she can go to take a nap? I don't mean like cots or a nap area but maybe pillows or bean bags in front of the TV. What happens if she falls asleep? Will you call us to come get her or just let her sleep? I am thinking especially after a long day.
