I was there last week, but had express pass. That being said, I like to look at standby times to continue to see if Express Pass is worth it. Well, it is.
Wait times for Transformers was 140 minutes, Despicable Me the standard 100 minutes. However, Gringott's and Forbidden Journey were 30 minutes or less for us. The Mummy was surprisingly short, around 15-20 minutes standby, near walk on in Express line. I rode Kong twice with softs and waited 90 minutes each ride. Never an issue getting into shows (Make Up, Poseidons, T2, etc.) even if we didn't have Express Pass. We spent many evenings there, and Rip Ride Rockit had a huge line once the sun starts setting and the lights turn on. We love MIB, but not sure I would wait the 45 minutes that standby had, and Simpsons was its usual 30 minutes or so - not a fan of that queue.
I guess, in other words, it is summertime in Orlando - lots of people everywhere. Not sure what you consider crazy long - but over 30 minutes is long for me, but Express Pass has spoiled me. I waited for Kong, but that is it. And you really need 20 minutes or so on the HP rides to enjoy the queue, over 45 minutes and I am out...already been there and done that.
