We will be headed back to BWV soon, after 2 years away. What is the current policy on phone charges for the phones in the rooms?

I think it used to be that 800/888 calls were no charge, and you were charged for long distance, but I forget whether local calls were free (as in really "Welcome Home") or not.

Toll Free calls from DVC resorts are free for DVC members. Most people use there own cell phones if they have a national calling plan anyway.;)

Buy prepaid phone cards. They are cheap and there is no charge whatsoever to use them since you dial a 1-800 # to use them.

However a word to the wise. If you are a member but are staying on cash you will be charged the same rate as a non- member (.75) for each call no mater what; prepaid card, 1-800, or anything else.

We just step out onto the balcony and use our cell phone (nationwide plan). Now that I think of it, we only use the room phone for wake up calls and PS calls.

We will be staying on rented points with a 800# phone card. Will there be a charge for us since we will be there on points? Just wondering since the payphones charge the phone card .25 every time we use it. It would be so much easier if we can call from the room for free with the 800#. Thanks!

Probably not. While technically renters are not supposed to get the same perks as owners, in practice this is rarely applied.

Enjoy!
