I am thinking maybe we need to do a small add-on at SSR. If I am not mistaken, to finance you must buy 50 points and for MB you need to buy 100 points. Is this correct? What is the current price (and when does it go up to $95? I threw the postcard away because I "knew" I was not going to do an add-on).
Thanks!

Your suppositions are correct. And the date that it goes up to $95 per point is after May 4 for current members. Current price is $89 per point, but then there's Magical Beginnings which might take the edge off that.

Is anyone actually going to pay $95?!

I mean both "Are any of you going to pay $95?" and "Will the general market sustain this price?"

One would assume DVC has done the market research to support this higher price

Personally, $95 is too steep for us and as such we have added on at SSR all the points we intend to

It will be interesting to see how fast sales (completions) go after the price increase

So far they have been able to raise prices and sell out

I was surprised that they did not wait for the price increase to go into effect on opening date, May 17th, for the public and after the Member Homecoming May 25-27, for DVC members so that they could see it in person before signing. My guess would be that most of those attending the member homecoming will not be SSR owners since either their building # won't be open yet or their use year have not yet pasted to get their first year's set of points.

Goodness, so I guess the deal I got at $79 per point was pretty darn good?

Now I am wondering if I shouldn't add 50 more points to make an even 200 before the prices go to $95.

I am sure that many people won't blink an eye at the $95 price, having never seen a lower price for comparison. Knowing what the historical prices were though, it seems quite high to me. Not that I'm complaining--just glad I bought when I did. I'm sure prices will continue to climb.

People who purchased (SSR or any other resort) are probably experiencing some sticker shock over the price increase. But many who will discover DVC for the first time will still evaluate the program financially and discover that it is to their benefit. Those who perform a break-even analysis on the initial investment (as we did) may find that it takes another year or 18 months to reach that point with the new prices. But what's 18 months when you're talking about something you will be using for 54 years?

By all accounts sales of SSR--sight-unseen--are still well and above whatever DVC had initially projected.

DVC will do just fine with the new prices.

I'm glad i paid cash for my 300 points all at once and i got amex miles to boot, cant wait ..ill miss the easy walk back from BCV though... hope its worth it to have to take a bus everywhere..
