Current restrictions nowhere you are?

I was just curious as to what restrictions are still in place where you are? NB just announced today that ALL restrictions are being dropped July 30th, and the state of emergency will be dropped. So no more masks, capacity restrictions, distancing, travel restrictions, isolation requirements (outside of federal requirements) etc...

How are things where you are?

We just entered Phase 3 in Ontario so there are still some capacity limits for indoor services and events and we are still masking in stores etc. We just entered phase three last weekend (a week early). When we hit 75% with two vaccines the rest of the restrictions will be lifted , and we are currently at 64% of eligible Ontarians with two vaccines.

They said we wouldn't go green until we hit 75% with their second dose. But...he jumped the gun. We currently only have 62.7% and they're going ahead anyways. At current pace even by next Friday we still won't have 70%, let alone 75%.

Manitoba, we still have a mask mandate, though I believe most, if not all businesses are now open to 50% capacity. There are some restrictions for people who are not fully vaccinated (we get QR codes once we are two weeks past our second dose for proof) such as eating in doors in restaurants if not from the same household, casinos and movie theaters.

I'm in BC. Most restrictions are lifted. We don't have to wear masks now (but many still are). It is advised to keep wearing masks until you are fully vaccinated (I am fully vaccinated).

We have no restrictions...no masking, capacity limits. Some people are still wearing them...and I have worn mine and broke out the hand sanitizer when it was total chaos when we went to the West Ed Mall in the Amusement ride area.

I do know that if you visit LTC facilities, all visitors must wear masks, as well as in the hospitals, dentist and optical businesses. Also masks are to be worn at massage and physio places as well. But other than that....no restrictions.

Hinshaw did state when restrictions lifted...that we need to learn to live with the virus. There will be outbreaks in areas...but they will be managed as it was before.

I am very surprised that we actually hit 75% for a first shot 61% for second shot. Hopefully the numbers keep going up!

I'm in Alberta...no mask requirement at my massage therapist. So that could be a clinic level thing. I know I'm vaccinated and my massage therapist is vaccinated so I had no issue wearing no mask. I still wear a mask about 75% off the time...I like my Disney masks

While not my home province, we are camping on PEI this week and I haven’t been required to wear a mask once! Freedom! Lol

No they stopped that for Atlantic Canadians with at least one dose.

To add: if you are taking the ferry you can do all of the entry paperwork on the boat on deck E. Then you just give the guy on land the pink slip and off you go. This was the same process last summer too.

I went to the movies last night here on Ontario and it was glorious. They were only seating every other row and there were 3 empty seats between parties. Masks were required if not actively eating or drinking but I don't think anyone followed that while sitting in their seats for the movie.

I heard that on the news last night yikes!!!! Will be interesting to see over the next couple months what happens with other provinces..

I am not sure what the reasoning is behind it. But Hinsshaw at the end of June stated....we need to learn to live in a world where covid exists. Yes...we are seeing a rise in infections, and it is mostly in those who are not vaccinated. Hospitalizations are rising a bit too....but again....it's in people who are not vaccinated.

I don't know if I totally agree with all of this....but I can and will do what " I " can do to reduce my risk of getting covid again Please don't get me wrong on this.

Here is a little food for thought though...if you look at both the UK and India where the variant was causing spikes of positive cases and in India in particular the hospitalizations the occured in those who were not yet vaccinated, they did crest and are now declining too. Look at India...where they do not have many restrictions and have trouble implementing restrictions....their numbers of positive cases are down again. It's just food for thought....that's all.

It will be interesting to see what happens in the next 6-9 months in terms of how this is all handled.

I was rethinking FL and thinking to use my westjet credits to go west. I certainly didn’t see Disney re-instating masks and Alberta doing whatever it is they are doing ..

It’s not surprising even a little what Alberta is doing tbh. Anybody could have guessed those in charge there would take this course. But even I’m a little shocked that “learning to live with Covid” appears to mean “Abandon all common sense public health principles.”

I am just as shocked as well. It actually makes me happy that we live in an area that is more remote, and we can protect ourselves a bit more than we could in the bigger centers.
It will DEFINITELY be an interesting couple of months to see if they are going to roll back into some restrictions in the next 2-3 months...if not weeks

I was shocked with Hinshaw's statements. Honestly here in Alberta we've been left to look after ourselves for a long time, so my mask habits won't change and indoor socializing will continue to be limited.
My worry is travel. I was immunized at the beginning of January and am not sure how long protection will last. Plus my husband got the Astrazeneca/Pfizer combo, and he is not considered double vaxxed in the US, which sucks. So no travel till that is all figured out.
