Current Price / Incentive for SSR?

Any idea how long this promotion is good for?

Our guide said that there is no way of knowing, but there are X number of developer points and when they are gone they are gone. He also said they have no way of knowing whether the prospective buyer will choose the double points or -$10 off which makes it even harder to determine when they will be gone.

We are seriously considering this deal. My question is if we buy 200pts do we get 400 developer points or just the 320?

The closing costs are different for a cash deal vs a financed deal. Either way these are minimal & certainly not a deal breaker. When you are more serious you need to speak to a guide at Disney & get the current & accurate info from the source.

WE bought 320 points at SSR that had a Dec 1, 2006 uy, so we have those points to use now & another 320 Dec 1 this year. The cash incentive $10 pp was a much better deal because we got $3200 to use with our down payment.

wow, thanks for doing the figures for me.. 182.37 + 54.97 = 237.34 is totally do-able for me... it's the TEN years thing that scares me!

I suppose a person could make extra payments when they could afford it and get it paid off quicker though. thanks again! I really appreciate it!

There is no prepayment penalty on the loan. You can pay extra/pay it off whenever you like.

You get double what ever you purchase. So, if you purchase 200 points, then you get 400 points good for 7 months. You will then get your 200 points at what ever use year you purchase.

Everyone is getting hung up on these bonus points. Think a minute -- These cost DVC nothing & you are paying a higher per point price. This is an emotional play to get you to come back within 7 months. You will force yourself to take an extra vacation with all the traveling costs & park expenses etc. If you do not need to return until next year, the cash incentive may make much more sense. If you are financing you will be paying interest on that extra amountas well.

Someone correct me if I am wrong.

If I choose to go with developer points I would get the following.

AKL
Sept UY-2007 at 200 points
double developer points 400 (use within 7 months)
Sept UY 2008 at 200 points

Correct?

SSR
January UY -2007 points at 200
Doubel developer points 400(use within 7 months)
January UY-2008 points at 200

Is this correct?

I'm interested in this too... also if the developer points (or bonus points whatever you want to call them) can be rented out

Yes, that is correct.

so how easy would it be to rent 200-320 points? and what are the restrictions dvc now puts on renting?

I'm doing the math here.. and if we're not planning on going to wdw before next year... we could rent out all the developer points and it would cheaper than purchasing resale

The rules on our developer points state no renting, no transferring and no banking. Use within 7 months or loose them.

Sorry to be the bubble popper! :-) We actually have had a hard time finding a way to use all of our developer points as our schedules changed after we bought our points.

Good luck with your decision!

Guys, Please read my earlier note, you might be wiser taking the dollar credits. These developer points may not be the wisest way to go.

I will admit that we questioned our decision to take the developer points after are schedules got crazy and it was a little panicy b/c of the 7 month window. We had great plans to go to DL but had to cancel that idea when we could not manage another week away from home.

However, we used the bulk of our developer points to extend 2 ressies that we already had on the books. We were able to add a weekend at OKW after we stay 5 nights at AKV in October. Then we were able to extend our ressie at New Year's by moving from SSR after 4 nights and going to the BWV for 3nights. We could not have done the weekends if we did not have the developer points. We need a 2 bedroom and that takes alot of points on the weekends. Normally, I would not be excited about changing resorts mid trip but we cant wait to see 4 of the DVC resorts in such a short amount of time.

We do still have a small handful of points that we will most likely loose b/c we cant fit one more day into our 2 trips. One of the best benefits for us was being able to bank the 2006 points that we received since we used developer points to round out our ressies. That gave us the opportunity to start our 2007 UY (Dec.) with 700 points.

I do agree with the post above that you need to have reason to use the developer points or you are better off taking the discount incentive and still get your 2006 points but not developer points.

Good luck!

What is the dollar credit then? If I purchase 160 points through Disney I would have to finance like $15,040 after discounts... is that what you're referring to?

I am not sure what the current point price is b/c they did a price increase a few weeks ago. Can someone answere the point price question with more certainty than I???

We paid $91 per point for our first contract and then paid $104 per point for our second contract that included the developer points. You get a discount off of the $104 price but I am not sure if it is $8 or $10 off per point. I also am not sure if there is a price difference for current DVC members vs. new purchasers.

Anyone know the new price incentives?
