Not sure about distributors, but just off the Fantasy and the Entertainment Director told me on the phone that Sony owned the rights to this latest Spiderman movie and denied Disney the ability to show it on the cruise ships.

Not debating that Sony distributes the Spider-Man movies. They do. Sony also distributed Homecoming, which was shown on the ships. What has changed isn't "different distrubutors," it's something in the agreement between the 2 companies.

OK, not different distributers. But different distribution contracts. Also, in my experience, older films (not specifically Disney ones) have been shown onboard DCL in the past. So Homecoming might be in that group.

My guess is different contracts and a different relationship between Sony and Disney. Also, it may be impacted by the new deal Sony inked with Netflix on post-theater revenue.

We just boarded the Magic (sitting at Lumiere's now) and unfortunately can confirm that Spiderman No Way Home is not playing. It looks like the movies are West Side Story, Encanto, Shang Chi, Eternals, and Jungle Cruise.

I’m heading out on the Magic on January 3rd. Hoping West Side Story sticks around as I probably won’t make it to my local theater to see it.
