Current Incentives?

New to the website. My family and I have been interested in DVC for sometime now and I know that they have had incentives in the past. Does anyone that has been lately know of the current incentives, if any. We have stayed at deluxe resorts 4 times in the last 2.5 years. We just love some of the deluxe resorts, that is why we have been reluctant to sign up.

:wave2:

I believe the current incentive is you can get $8 off per point if you buy new at SSR. The base rate for SSR is now $98 per point, so you could get them for $90 per point.

I'm not sure if that is still current, but I'm expecting some information from my guide this week so when that arrives I'll check and see if there are any other current promotions going on.

Oh... and I almost forgot!!! WELCOME TO THE BOARD!

I talked with my guide less than 2 weeks ago... The current rate is $98pp and the incentive is $8pp and you keep the point..

Good luck...

Yep, currently $90 at SSR. You also get $100 off of APs (as do all DVC members).

Let me see if I have this correct...

If you buy 150 points at SSR, the cost is $90 per point and you get the 2004 points? And then you'd get the 2005 points that come up later this year?

If that's the case... you could rent out the 150 points for $10 per point, and ultimately only pay $80 per point! AND I'd need to get on the phone to call my guide! *LOL*

the 2004 points doesn't apply to Californian (I think Washington resident as well) unless you are physically buying DVC in Florida.

Ok, I just talked to my guide and that's exactly how it works!

It's $98 per point with a minimum of 150 points. The discount is $8 per point. When you purchase you get the points immediately and then in about 6 months those points will come again. You do, however, have to pay prorated maintenance fees based on when you close. So if you closed the end of July, you'd have to pay 5 months of MN fees.

Also, in regards to financing, if you finance thru DVC the discount is applied towards the down payment. So, 150 * 98 = 14700. 20% downpayment would be $2940 but then you apply the discount of $8 per point, then the downpayment is only $1740. To get the ball rolling, you have to pay at least $500 and then have to make pay the full downpayment a little later on (which can be done on a credit card).

So, if you rent the first 150 points for $10 per point, the end result would only be about $81.60 per point...

I guess I should say that I'm not sure how this would apply to other states, it could be different. But this was what was told to me for virginia for right now. But subject to change (of course).

I am confused about backdating and not sure how to make it work for me. We are planning to join DVC and prefer SSR for the longer contract as well as the appeal of the resort itself. It seems best to go through Disney for SSR. I talked to a guide last week and as she discussed the package, she began to say, "We backdate," but then interrupted herself to say, "No, you like to visit in January so that wouldn't work for you. We would start you in, say, October."

*Is it true that what they usually offer is points now (2004-2005 points) and points later (2005-2006 points)? In which case she just offered me a lousy deal!

*But you can't bank those "backdated" points? When do you have to use them by?

It's true that we want to visit in January, for many reasons, but the most important one is when I can get away from my job-- in other words, it is not just a matter of preference. So I can see that a Use Year towards the end of the calendar year would be best for us, so that if our plans didn't work out we could still bank 100%. But I really don't like the idea of not getting points that other buyers are getting.

I will ask her these questions when I speak to her again but I wanted to get some input from this board. If I hadn't been reading the board, I might not have even known what she was saying before she changed course.

Just an FYI I just purchased 200 points at SSR with 10% down (Disney financing) and they game an additional $1600 toward the down payment. I believe if i were to purchase 150 points they would have given me $1200.

so my total down payment was 1960 + 1600= do the math that was my down payment...pretty good incentive eh?
hope you get it and its still in effect would be a darn shame

good luck! :goodvibes

Perhaps my guide gave me a wrong figure. I didn't ask what the percentage downpayment was so it's possible when he said 1740 he really meant 1470 as the downpayment. That $1600 extra (or $1200 for 150 points) is the $8 per point discount. The downpayment total was based on the full price of $98 per point.

We just purchased 200 SSR points in late June and paid $95 (we got the wrong price sheet in our packet so our guide went with that price) per point and got the $8 per point incentive for a grand total of $17,400 ($87 per point). Our guide didn't mention anything about 2004 points, so I was confused on the info on that.

It isn't 2004 points, you just get the points from this year (2005).

The example my guide mentioned.

Contracts he sold last week had a use year of February. So, although they bought them in July, they still got the February 2005 points. Then on February 2006, they will get their points for then too.

He had said that not long ago, when you purchased a contract, you would have to wait for the points to hit when your use year came up.

It depends upon your use year, whether you got 2004 points or not. If your use year is this fall, they are in 2004 right now, so you get 2004 points. If your use year is Feb-June, it's 2005, so you are getting 2005 points. I know......:confused3

Oh, yeah... good point. My guide only mentioned the February UY, but that makes total sense if the UY is for Aug-Dec...

hee hee i had to think about that for a sec but you are absoutely right.
what this really is is a REBATE. You pay full price but we'll give you a $1200/$1600 rebate applicable toward your down paymnet. After all the 10% down paymnet IS based on the $98 pp. :teacher: :teacher: :teacher: :teacher: :teacher: ;) ;)
