I tried to find this info in another thread but could not find a recent post. Is the Frozen M & G still opening at regular park opening? I know for a while it wasn't opening until an hour later. I just want to know if my husband goes in for EMH and lines up at 9am (EMH time), the M & G will open at 10am (regular park hours)? I have an AP and don't have early entry, so I was going to bring the kids in with me at regular time and hope our wait time wouldn't be too bad at that point.

Last Friday it was 120 minutes during EMH and it did seem to open fairly close to park opening. I didn't do it but was in Fantasyland at the time. There is an Olaf on the roof of the building and he was just starting to wake up near 10ish.

They open at regular park opening.

We were there last week so our experience could've been specific for higher crowds (at least they seemed higher than usual for a weekday after the spring break rush)...

The best strategy (so far) to shorten your wait time is to go on a NON-EMH day (the problem with an EMH day is that everyone and their dog will be there thinking they can get in line "early" for Frozen, and on the day that we tried this, there was aleady a 3 hour wait just a couple of min after EMH 9am, and the M&G didn't open until 10am), and get through bag check and be first in line waiting at the gates EARLY. DH was first in line at bag check at 7:30am until it opened at 8:30am, then was first in line at gate 9 and just sat there and waited until the gates opened around 9:30am. We met him about 8:30am to wait with him. Once the gates opened we went straight to the rope drop on the LEFT side and were right at the front at the rope.

When the rope dropped at 10am (regular park opening), beware...it's a crazy race. DH thought he'd be above running (it's against the rules anyway!) but when EVERYONE took off sprinting, he took off too. He was among the first in line at the M&G (we only had to go around a couple of turns in line) and we STILL waited 45 min to see them.

I got a video of the rope drop race and it's truly insane.

Only 1 person in your party has to be in the line to hold your spot. They have an area for families to join the line holder. If you are pushing a stroller or carrying bags, there's no way you can beat out the Dads who are running to hold a place in line (yes - there were mostly Dads running. LOL).

About a month ago they started it at park opening. http://www.www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3260210

From what I've seen and heard, unless you sprint (and I mean sprint) there at rope drop, you will be waiting a couple hours. We got there at park opening and found ourselves backed up to the 120 minute sign. We decided not to stay.

I finally decided it wasn't worth it. We found an older girl dressed as Elsa wandering around IASW. Our 3 year old noticed her first. We asked her if she wouldn't mind taking a picture with our daughter. She was nice enough to do it for us and our girl walked away thinking she met the real Elsa.

Share your video, I would certainly like to see it :goodvibes

Disney is generally so good at crowd control, it's surprising some system has not been implemented to control the Frozen line.

Well if that's the strategy, I guess I'll be running right along with all the dads, LOL! DH can take the stroller with our DD and I'll take one for the team. I can deal with mayhem but I can't deal with waiting in line 3 hours to see a character. :headache:

This just reminded me of opening day of Toy Story Mania. Everyone started stampeding, so we just ran for it. Major bottleneck but somehow we managed to sneak in at the side of it. Waited 25 minutes in line. When we exited the ride, the line was over 2 hours. :scared1:

I've been terrified of the wait for Anna and Elsa. We're heading to WDW in June and I've got a FP+ to meet them. Hopefully my girl will be happy enough with that so that when we head to DL she won't wait to wait to see them again!

They have to know the footrace is dangerous. This is the most likely reason this hasn't been available at rope drop until recently.

Considering how well they handle the "gas pump" rope drop to get into Carsland, I'm surprised they're letting things get so out of hand. Someone is going to get hurt.

Yep, I was there for that and it was nuts. DH and I had no wait at all for our first ride but our friends who couldn't bother to be there for rope drop had to wait hours. Sucked for them.

At least one child already has been knocked down and given a nose bleed. Her mother wrote about it on here the other day. She was knocked down by an adult male who just kept going. I'm planning my first trip to DL in July and as an attorney I'm shocked that Disney has let this get so dangerous.

So here was our experience today... My dh was up front for the EMH entry outside the gate. They actually came out and told people who were there for the Frozen M&G to line up single file in one spot. That they would be walking single file, in an orderly fashion to the place. My dh said he was maybe 4 people back in line at this point. So they let people in, and the CM walked this line back to the place, but at the same time there was a mass of people who came running around from the opposite side of the castle and basically cut off the "orderly" line that was being lead by the CM. The CM did not stop this from happening. When it was all said and done, my dh went from being 4th in line, to being at the 120min wait sign. All total, my dh or I stood in line from 9am until almost noon when we actually saw them. The best part? My 3 year old totally freaked out when she entered the area (despite begging us to go see them), and would not take any pictures with them, or even talk to them. My 2yo was a bit unsure too. So my dh and I stood in line for almost 3 hrs so my niece and nephews could walk in at the last minute with their mom (my sister) and have their pictures taken with them. Needless to say it was a horrible way to start our day, and we should have said screw it from the beginning! Lol!

This does not make me happy.

I can not believe adults would knock children out of the way.....hopefully they will find a better way...they could maybe do the single file thing and have a direct path blocked off where other people couldn't rush to enter it or something....I think my kids would like to see them but I will not spend half of one of our days waiting for them and I will not risk one of my kids being hurt to see them....they don't know they are there so they might not find out

All they need to do is let those in the line they escort be at the front, and those who run have to get in line behind them. Then people will start realizing they are better off lining up in the escorted line than they are running.

YIKES! I'm not one to ever go to guest services and complain (I don't think I ever have), but I think that one would have had me heading over there. The CM should have marched the line to the front of the other crowd and made everyone else stand back. I probably would have left DH in line and marched to guest services to complain on that one. You should not be punished for following express directions!

So sorry your kids didn't cooperate once you got to the front of the line. You never know what kids are going to do, do you? :rotfl2:

A friend of mine is at DL today and checked the line about 15 minutes ago and reported it is 5 hours long!!!!:eek::eek: Needless to say her girls aren't seeing A&E today!

This is insane! I am shocked and disappointed Disney is not doing something to remedy this at both parks.

Is there a reason they're not putting them in more than one park?

We're planning to go in September, which in sure will still be crazy, so we probably won't wait. Last year, my lo {was 22.5 mo} was excited to see the characters from afar, but up close, not so much. We opted only for a character breakfast then m&g with Mickey and goofy in the park.
