Hi all,

Have any of you been contacted on special current deals with add-ons? My wife received a call saying that our old salesperson had left the company and he wanted to tell us of a new deal going on now. Of course, my wife had no idea what the guy was talking about, since I was the one who researched and managed this. She said something about the I would especially benefit b/c I am a Feb UY owner and i'd get extra points for some reason? Perhaps b/c if I bought now, I'd get last years points? Either way, just wondering if anyone had input as to what they are currently offering. Went on DVCmember.com and couldnt find anything. I currently own at BC - 250 pts.

Thanks,

I had the same sort of call earlier in the month from someone that was not my guide and could not tell me what happened to my guide -
I own at BLT -

I can tell you that what was mentioned was indeed about getting 2010 UY points.

If you added on this month, with a Feb UY, you would be eligible to get those 2010 UY points and Disney will allow you to bank them.

So, you would be getting double the points to start since your next set would become current on Feb. 1st, 2011.

I have not received any calls, but I know that my guide is still there since I talked to him last week.

I got the following from my guide:
For members adding on 100 @ SSR, AKV or Aulani they’ll also get the $500 gift card, backdated points (depending on their use year) and the $20 per point credit .

Is that add on deal at any resort?

The gift card is only at AKV, SSR, or Aulani. If you add on at BLT, I don't believe you qualify.

But, I did read something yesterday from someone who posted and it sounded like they did. Give your guide a call to find out for sure.

Thanks all!!! I'm fighting the addonitis bug. I bought resale. I may consider buying direct now esp. with the new rules starting in March as stated in the other thread(s). I'll give him a buzz, but I usually like going in with as much knowledge so I dont waste my time or his...

Thanks again.

Just to clarify, the DVC timeshare salesmen will try to make it sound like you are getting something for nothing. You're not.

In reality, if you have a Feb UY, you are purchasing in your 2010 UY -- and you are purchasing 2010 points 11 month into your UY. Which means they are worthless.

So...your wonderful DVC timeshare salesman will grant you an exception to the banking deadline. You will be able to bank the 2010 points (which you paid for, but which are worthless) into your 2011 UY where they will be "use or lose."

There is some legitimate value to the banking deadline exception -- how much that's worth, you have to decide (hint: it's NOT their fictitious $10 per point!). But you are certainly NOT getting "something for nothing" as they will try to have you believe.

It seems like a "good deal" because you get all of 2010 points which can be banked......No dues are paid. 2011 points are prorated as well. So in my case for 50pt add on.....it is basically a wash to add direct. Trying to talk myself out of it actually. Addonitis:headache:

You are paying some dues on those 2010 points but not much. For example, with an April UY your 2011 dues cover the last 3 months of your 2010 UY and the first 9 months of your 2011 UY. DVC pro-rates the dues the first year so if you purchased today and received Apr 2010 points, you would owe dues starting today, 388 days worth of dues for 2011. Of that, 63 days worth are associated with those Apr 2010 pts you receive. If DVC is sold out of Apr 2010 pts and your first pts are Apr 2011 pts then your dues would be pro-rated from April 1st (275 days) so you would pay dues on only the Apr 2011 pts since that is all they gave you. So those 2010 pts are not totally free of dues but it is still a great deal.
