Leaving next week.............. from those of you who have recently been at WDW what are thge crowds like???

How about the chance of riding the new ride.... "Mission"

thanks
chris

:) Was there July 12 to 19. Crowds weren't too bad for July. Got to ride Mission Space three times on Thursday the 17th. They opened the ride up in the afternoon. Not many people were aware of the opening. It was nice doing the ride without a wait. Would have ridden more but had an appointment to see Snow White and had to leave.

We were there July 16-23, it was pretty crowded. Popular rides like Space Mountain, Test Track, Splash Mountain were 90-120 min waits. If you are staying onsite take advantage of EMH. Mission Space was open the night we went and was only a 30 min wait while Test Track right next to it was 120 min! Go to Epcot in the afternoon, that seems to be when it is open (we were there one morning and it was not open). You should have a very good shot at riding it! Have fun!

we will be there too!;)

we are staying at the yc sat. then the bwv
where are you staying?
are you a dvc member, if so are you going to the bbq?

;) ;)

We were there July 12 thru the 22nd at the BWI. The crowds were light. We used FP for some and you didn't need to for others. Now 2 out of my 3 daughters are teenagers so we don't do EE or even get to the parks till they are open about 1 hour. I followed the best days to go in the summer by the unofficial guide. The weather was pritty good too for July. Had a wonderful time and mission space was great.......

We were there July 18th and 19th. My son rode Mission Space on Friday afternoon without any wait. Crowds at Epcot were not bad, but we thought MGM was crowded on Saturday. Despite the crowd, we did not stand in line longer than 20 minutes (Tower of Terror). Rock'n Rollercoaster was not working that day. We walked on to Millionaire, Muppets and Backlot Tour. Waited about 15 minutes for the Great Movie Ride.

It was HOT and HUMID!!

Have fun!

It would be really nice if people just out of the World would update this thread on a regular basis. It helps those of us who are in the planning process for future trips.

My friends are ther right now for a 10 day stay at the Contemporary, they call everyday and they said not to crowded but very, very hot.

What I find most interesting is that we have several people at WDW during similar times and how their perceptions of crowds vary. :)

Even hot and humid means something different to different people. :)

I just got back from WDW on Friday (25th), and the crowds were a little bit larger than what I had expected.. but then again, it's WDW. Rode Mission: Space.... hated it. It is definitely not for people who get the slightest bit of motion sickness. Usually I can handle spinning out of control rides, but this one.. oh my. I had to sit down for at least 20 minutes afterwards. I felt nauseated, dizzy, etc. It was a good ride, but I will not ride it again unless I have take some serious dramamine. Yup. I want to go back.... wah....

GS 10yrs old rode mission space 2 weeks ago at 7pm. DH and Myself did not ride, we had full stomachs and didn't want to chance it. They have some great games to play after the ride & you can e-mail video post cards. GS loved the ride and did not get sick.

Went back 2 days later & it was open but to cm's and their guest only.

WDWSTAR:
We're doing our usual trip....5 days bwv, 2 nights at AK, 3 nights at VB and 3 nights at WLV.

This is sort of my summer fix! Can't imagine not seeing the resorts every summer.

Most are reporting really hot weather. Well it's been really hot in NJ lately so at least there's tons to do at WDW.

Have a great trip!

We just got back from our trip. We were at Universal/WDW from 7/18-7/26 and thought the crowds were very heavy. This was our fifth trip during the end of July, so I feel like I can be a good judge of crowd levels, and it was definitely the heaviest we have encountered. We still had a lot of fun but I can give you a few hints that will help. The Magic Kingdom consistently had the biggest crowd. Go early because the crowds picked up at around 11am and didn't leave until closing. The Fast Passes were gone early and the standby lines in Fantasy Line were still around 60 minutes during SpectroMagic. We did E-ticket on 7/22 from 10-1 and couldn't believe the lines. Big Thunder and Space Mountain were taking 20-30 minutes to ride throughout the whole time. Splash Mountain was not as crowded. We have done E-ticket three or four times and have never seen it this crowded. We also went back for E-ticket on 7/25. It had rained heavily from 6-8 pm and this seemed to discourage the crowds. The lines during that night were only about 10 min. We played Fantasia mini-golf on Wednesday at 7pm and the Cast Member was warning everyone that it would take at least 1 hour and 45 min to play. She said the crowds were unusually heavy.

Our biggest complaint was that both water parks were closed by 11-12 when we tried to go on Thursday. Even with our UPH you could not get in. When we went back to our hotel and complained, we were told that UPH should have been admitted but the problem was that we had driven our car instead of taking the resort bus. The hotel comp'd a meal and gave us Express Passes for three rides the next day. We thought this was a very fair trade-off for the lost time.

I want to stress again that we had a great time despite the crowds. Let me know if you have any questions.

Does anyone know what hour Mission Space will be opertaing this weekend? I will be up there on Aug 1st and I really want to try it out!

I'd like to hear more opinions too. I'm leaving Wednesday!!!!!! It is interesting the different perception levels. I wonder if the difference is in the days that people attend MK?

HI! We were there 7/25-7/27. What a great weekend! Crowds were nowhere near as bad as I thought they would be on a weekend trip. We went to MGM Friday afternoon, walked onto the GMR, ToT and RnR (although the rain probably has a lot to do with it). We also saw Mupptvision with only a 5 minute wait.
Friday night did e-night, it was great. Best money we've ever spent at WDW.
Saturday at MK was awesome. No crowds for anything.
Sunday at Epcot was a little busier. Not too bad.
Mission Space was open in the afternoon for previewing, but DH did not want to wait. Stand-by line was 85 minutes, single rider line was 40 minutes. Fast pass return was 5:15-6:15, and hubby wanted to be on the road by then
Have a great trip!

We were there 7/19 - 7/26. I thought the crowds were VERY heavy. We got to the parks everyday by opening and took a break in the afternoon. We were able to get a lot accomplished, but it was definitley a lot busier than our previous trips in early June. However, the one suprise was Saturday 7/26 at the MK. We got there right at 9 and rode Peter Pan, Pooh, Snow White, Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, Tiki Birds, WDW Railroad and saw the 9:40 Cinderella's Surprise Celebration with minimal waits. I think we accomplished a lot in less 2 1/2 hours! We left at 11:30 to go eat at Fort Wilderness and the entrance was mobbed. When we returned after lunch, the crowds were much heavier. Anyway, my advice is to expect decent crowd levels and plan accordingly. Hit the parks early and make use of fast pass. Have a great trip!
