I was wondering what people think are the best Good Neighbor hotels.
We usualy go once a year and we have gone every year since my daughters were born, and twice in the same year a couple times. We have stayed at the Castle Inn & Suites. It was ok, rooms were decent, pool was ok, price was great. We stayed at the one right next to the Del Sol, Dont remember the name but I didnt like that one, my father in law picked that one. We have stayed at The Menage before it was sold and renovated and that was an ok place, good price, nice pool area. And last trip we stayed at the Red Lion. Which to be honest I was quite dissapointed with. The pool was boring and very cold, no hot tub and the rooms were new but very plain. Not even close to the Red Lion standards I've seen elsewhere.
We have 7 year old twin pixies who love DLR and I'm just wondering if there are any of those hotels close by, we like to be within walking distance or at least ART distance, that are good for families. My daughters love to swim so a pool and hot tub are important. And I'm not a fan of "modern" styles when it comes to hotel furnishings. Red Lion was described as modern and it was just dumb.
We would love to stay at Disneyland Hotel and to be honest could afford to do so if we really wanted to but it just doesnt feel right to me to spend an extra $800 to $1000 over the good neighbor hotels just to be at DLH when we really are only crashing there at night, if you know what I mean.
So, any suggestions? Any hotels that have just been awesome?

) If you can, I would suggest staying on site. Ours loved the slide at the pool area, the little Disney touches everywhere, the Disney shampoo, soap, etc. The Disney story channel. I wish Disney would have that with their regular channels, I miss that! It is nice to go down stairs and have a character meal. The cut threw the GC to and from the part is great! So are the candy coins on the bed!
