Curious, has your guide ever called you?

I was just wondering if other guides are more or less attentive then ours?

Are you kidding? Our guide couldn't even be bothered to be there when we had our DVC presentation, even though we had an appointment setup to meet with him; much less call us to thank us for joining DVC and him getting the commission. If it had not been for the nice "substitute" guide that helped us, we would not be members today. I have been very, very disappointed in our guide and will probably go resell for our add-on rather than use him. And what gets me is, our guide is one of the ones mentioned here as being a great guide. Maybe we just expect too much (like keeping an appointment).

My guide is Bruce Douglas and he definently goes above and beyond the call of duty for a DVC guide. I always get phone calls when there are new offers and I even get Christmas and Birthday cards from him as well. He is a very informative and is very easy to talk to and overall, is very out going. I wish all of you had a guide as great as mine.

My guide was very experienced, knowledgeable, and thorough wilth the presentation. She returns phone calls, albeit not very promptly, but there is just so much business right now, I think it is okay.

I think it would have been nice if she would have called me to verify that my paperwork was received and to congratulate me on the purchase or something like that, but I am not really complaining. She did her job well.

Yes, Mary Mannix is our guide and she has called us several times. We haven't heard from her since SSR went on sale, I'm guessing it's because we always tell her the same thing...we can't add on right now. We did get a post card from her though right after our stay in July. I was impressed by that. She is very sweet.:)

No, our guide hasn't contacted us since the day we purchased.
Don't know why, seems he contacts others (from this report) Oh well! I've never called him, haven't had any questions that couldn't be answered on these boards, or I couldn't figure out myself by reading the member's guide.

Interesting.

Our guide, Julie Hughes, only calls me if I have left a message for her. She always answers my questions and is very nice to talk to, but she doesn't contact us otherwise. We have never met her in person. When I first called asking for DVC info, my call was transferred to her. She handled everything perfectly for our initial purchase and our add-on.

Yes, my guide has called me several times. He even calls about things I have posted on this board! (he has figured out who Cruella really is!!) He told me once that all the guides read what is posted on the Dis, so maybe your complaints will be heard. ;)

Never heard from our original guide...really didn't want to .. bad experience...I've talked with our new guide once....but only about something I called him about..

My guide is Judy Kauffman and she is great. She has been my one and only guide since I first purchased DVC years ago when BWV opened and also through subsequent add ons. Judy has always called when new pts or a new DVC resort is being opened and relates the price, any promotions being offered etc., she has also called us several times over the years and left a message welcoming us home during our WDW trips and she has always gotten back to me within a day when I have called with questions and concerns.
She might only be a "sales person" as some like to call DVC guides but she is darn good at what she does. She does continue to keep in touch with her contract owners, which again is a very smart move on her part and a very welcomed touch on the owner's part. I personally could not ask for a better guide.

Yes, several times while staying at OKW. Our original guide from '97 left the company. Never heard from him after our original contract and was nearly impossible to get ahold of, never returning calls. Can't figure out why he's no longer in the guide business!

Yes. We also have Betty Prikryl. She has called when new resorts opened or when they are close to selling out our use year. She also calls our resort when we are at WDW to invite us over to see new models, but she usually misses us since we are out in the parks.

Our guide, Julie Hughes, is always a pleasure to talk to and has called several times. Most notabley when BWV was selling out and again when the "new" BWV points became available this spring.
Both calls were good for add-ons .... talk about a collect call!

I don't believe the guides are on comission, you would think that they would be, but that was one of the questions I asked back in '98 and the answer was a re-sounding NO.

Our Guide is Nick Tamberino and he is awesome, doesn't call me at home, but calls every visit to see how we are enjoying our vacation.

I would have to say he is the MAN.

Hulabaloo- We have the same guide and can ditto your response. He always call when we are at BWV. I wonder how he knows that?

nick is the man, I assume it is trackable through member services for the guides.

I'm just curious, can you switch guides? We have no problem with our guide. He's a really nice guy and took alot of time to explain everything to DH and me.

I was just wondering since I noticed a few people don't seem to like their guide. Are you "stuck" with your guide?

Yes; my guide has called. Julie Hughes is her name and she's a dream.
But if anyone out there is looking for a "new" guide I highly recommend her.
I totally agree with you about Julie. We first spoke to her around 1994 about joining the DVC. My husband wanted to do it, but I was adamant that we weren't going to. I knew all the facts about DVC and that it wasn't a traditional timeshare, but I also didn't feel that the time was right financially. She would call us a few times a year, letting us know that the passes weren't going to be included in the purchase much longer, or to tell us that OKW was almost sold out, but she never pressured us. This went on for many years. Finally in 1998, we were vacationing at WDW again, and my husband called the sales center (which had moved to BWV by then) and told Julie to have the paperwork ready...we were buying in! Of course, he never ran it by me (which was very unusual for him since I handle all the finances for our house and our businesses), and I almost killed him when I found out what we were about to do. But after I signed by the Mickey heads and initialed the palm trees (or whatever it is), I knew he had made the right decision...and Julie never pressured us once!!! Since then, I (the one that didn't want to join) have convinced my husband to add on two more times, so I guess you can say that I am a DVC convert, and we owe it all to Julie! We have spoken to her a few times over the years, just to keep in touch with each other, but haven't seen each other face-to-face since that visit in 1998. Maybe when we go down in November we will get a chance to see her again.
