Curious before I call

I went to the DVC website to see if there were any incentives or specials. We did the tour in Dec and loved the idea. We were just hesitant however it is still on our minds, we go to Disney yearly - this year 2 times are already booked.

So I went on it and the 'Specials' link did not want to work. While I thought it was my firefox (& Not sure still) the chat with an agent window popped up. Got a hold of an agent. Long story short after the little spill they give he said he was not working properly and transferred me to the proper agent who could talk to me. No biggie. Went through it again. All I wanted was the fact I was looking at 160 or so at AK and wanted to know the specials if any. Did the email exchange yada yada. The email I got was a broke down list of every resort, pts, financing etc. When he asked if I got it I said sure but it was not what I asked for. He said I had to call for that information that the specials were only for AK, and BV but I had to call in. I told him I would later.

I know they want me to call in but there went 50 mins of round and round of what could have been sorry the link is on the page but broken and you can not have the info unless you call.

Does anyone know what they could be before I call this afternoon. I fear going in circles all over again.

There may be new specials announced in the next week ( I think right now is somewhat a lull between deals, some guides have told purchasers to hold onto their contracts to wait for potentially better deals next week)
dvcnews.com does a pretty good job at listing all current incentives:

Of course, also check out this board's sponsor at the top, the TSS for resale contracts, which may be a beter option for you...

Ty for the links, headed now to check them out. We keep coming back to the DVC because well - we keep going back to Disney lol. They are awfully sweet to my special need kiddos and it bitter sweet.

I think my DH would leap, I am the one that keep being the frugal fanny. I am however stuck between the resale and Disney itself. I do not know why I do this to myself heck, I am so anal with saving $ and signing anything.

As far as resale goes, Pick your preferred home resort (The buy where you want to stay deal)

If that resort is BLT, then you usually can do as good or better direct from Disney. AKV can go either way (depending on the current deals and AKV resales).
The least known fact about DVC is pretty much every other resort at WDW is priced better on the resale market.

Resale can take longer, so if you have a trip you want booked now you might want to figure in that next trip's value into the direct vs resale decision.

and if you buy direct, ask them to make your first DVC reservation as part of the deal (really the only thing you can deal on)

Well the one thing we have always know is we AKV. We always loved the look & feel of the place and once in a while I want the kids to wake with the animals. The look is priceless :) It melts me :) *sniff*

We know were prob looking at 160 pts to pull off 2 trips a year or so if my quick math is right based on the point chart if I read that freaky thing right lol. We like Spring and before the Christmas rush. We would never go in the summer heat as my kids could not tolerate the heat with their needs. & Since I homeschool them I can pick and choose these dates when school is in session otherwise. I just can not decide what month to be my end month or what ever that is called so that works.

If I bought now would I get that after Turkey Day trip or is too late? However it is a GG. Eek that would be an issue. Its 8 of us this time (rare) some friends coming from Canada.

I just keep toying with cost A (DVC) or cost B (resale). How long does it take?

AKV is wonderful, someday I would love to add-on there..

160 points for 2 trips a year, I'm guessing studios? (and hopefully standard or savannah view? There's only about a dozen of the smaller value rooms and may be difficult to always get every trip) Have you checked out the 2011 point charts (where weekdays cost more, but weekends cost less, seems to be the future DVC direction, but does place a damper on the Sun-Thu crowd)

According to the, non-definitive, availability thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2352991
Thanksgiving is currently OK, but I almost think that is enough of a reason to go direct and get that trip guaranteed as part of your purchase.

I've heard a few months are possible for resale (you have to first find a contract, then get an accepted offer, then wait for ROFR) by then the other resort owners would be within their 7 month window for AKV...

I'd say a fall UY like October (or Nov if available) would be most ideal for you as it puts Thanksgiving, December and spring within your 8 month banking window (if you ever need to change a trip), so if direct, I'd also insist on a fall UY...
