Hi All DVC Members:D
Being from Montana my sister and I were curious as to whether there are any other DVC members from the Northwest,( MT, ND, SD, WY, ID, CO, UT or WA)?
We love WDW and vacationed there last July with the FTP. It had been 15 years since our last visit and so much had changed. We were able to stay at the AKL and also visited other on property resorts. We thought all were unique and beautiful. That is why next summer we are returning with a larger group ( 8 family members) and hope to stay at OKW.
So if there are any of you out there from the Big Sky Country or neighboring states who own DVC membership we would like to hear from you and are wondering how you feel about being a DVC member.

Well- I am a new DVC from the northwest- but you left out my state! But, because I know it was an oversight- I'll respond anyway. My DH and fam and I just moved to Portland, OR a year ago. We love it here- and love being members of the DVC even more! Too bad we loive so far away now, but we've been able to find some pretty decent airfares to Fl. out of Portland, so we're not too disappointed.

We are from Colorado and love having DVC. Although we are new members (March 03) we had been going to Disney every year anyway. There are some great specials on flights out of Denver. We are usually able to go for under $200!

:D Thanks for your responses. Sorry I did not mean to leave you out Oregon. I'm still new at this so I hope you can forgive my oversight. If I have overlooked any others please don't hesitate to respond.
My sister and I ordered a DVC membership video and have been contacted by a representive about a membership purchase for Saratoga Springs. It's very tempting, but we thought we would do a little more research into it before making the commitment.
It's great knowing there are others llike us who love WDW and live as far away as we do.
We appreciate your input about DVC membership. Right now I think we are mainly looking for encouragement and hoping that some day we can hear those words "Welcome Home".

We're from Oregon too. We just purchsed at OKW (still pending), but don't think the distance will be much of a problem. We've been to WDW twice in the past 3 years, and are planning another trip in the spring. Any travel from Oregon is long. I can't think of a better place to end up.

YEAH!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc ANotyer POrtlander- I have , for quite some time, thought I was all alone out here by myself, BUT ALAS.... IT IS NOT TRUE! There are at least 2 ohter DVCers out here! DO you ind if I ask you where you live in POrtland? We live in Happy Valley- just west of Clackamas.

Montana Minnies- Have you visited any of the DVC resorts? If so, which resort are you leaning towards?

Hi Again
My sister and I stayed at the AKL last summer and were able to visit the other on property resorts. With possibly 8 of us going next Aug.04 we would like to be able to get into a 2bdrm villa at OKW. We understood that the rooms there were very spacious and that it tends to be more quiet. We thought all the resorts were beautiful, but since our mother will be 84 and we really want to bring her with us we thought OKW would be our best choice for that trip.
Other than last July we have never stayed on property before so we were very impressed. Can hardly wait to go back again!
:)
Thank you waltk for your input and have a great time at WDW karabear1!
We look forward to hearing about
your trip to OKW.

We have been members since March 2002, and live in Colorado. We love it. We have always been able to get great airfare from here. You just have to wait and be diligent. We did drive once (shortly after 9/11) but probably wouldn't do that again. It was a looooong drive. Some day we will be moving closer (North Carolina in 7 years), then we will add on or be a resale with the money we save on airfare.

We are from Seattle and we love being part of DVC! Most of our friends think its a bit wacky....but we have come to know better! We visit about every other year......We've rented our points out one of the in-between years....This year we are treating my brother and his family. Its been good all around for us. We've always paid about $200 per person for airfare, and generally we arrive on Saturday(next time we are staying that first night at POR)...and move into a 1 BR at OKW on Sunday. Alaska Air is flying form Seattle non-stop to Orlando now...which is terrific. We have an Alaska Air Visa Card(miles) but also if you go "platinum" on that card they send you a companion-fare coupon($50)....so this time we have 4 non-stop tickets for $200 each..........We leave in 9 days and are really getting excited!

Nice to know there are some other folks in the "neighborhood"!

I live in Utah. However, my mother's side of the family is from the deep South and my great grandparents built a six-bedroom beachhouse for the family on Amelia Island so I have always spent summer vacations in Florida, and frequently have travelled to WDW. Now that we are taking even more frequent trips to FLA I finally took the plunge and joined this summer (300 BCV points). I love spending some days at WDW and some days at the Beach (just got back last week!!!). My family is very excited about DVC and even more trips to WDW and the Beach (especially to escape the snow, the dry air and the cold!). If I watch carefully I usually can get air fare for around $200.00.

Another Portland, OR DVC owner. So, far airfare has been fine. We travel probably 3x per year already, love Disney and now we are combining our two loves together. WDW/DVC trips!

Montana Minnie: DH and I went to high school in Billings. Still have lots of family and friends there. DH graduated from West and I was the first graduating class from Skyview (tells my age). Anyway, think about DVC trips and warm weather during the cold and snow that will be arriving soon!:smooth: Do your research and take the plung if you find it is for you.::yes::

Forest Park? I don't think I've ever heard of Forest Park before- I guess I'm gonna have to get a map out a check out where that is. My DH works downtown Portland on the Willamette River clean up project.... maybe he's heard of Forest Park- I'll ask him in the morning.

mplidsay1- my youngest DD lives in Provo and attends BYU and I have a sister that lives in Centerville. Gotta love Utah and those mountains! We'll be down in SLC in December, my nephew is getting married on Dec. 11.

I know people must think I am soooo make up all this stuff, but HONESTLY- I have a brother that lives in Boulder, Colorado and another brother that lives in Seattle! (Neither of which are DIsney Fans) It's seems everywhere I go on these boards- someone lives by or in the same area of someone i know- or somewhere I have lived! It probably helps that I come from a rather large military family though! :teeth:
I guess it really is a small world after all!

We also live in NW Portland!:wave2:

We are near Hwy 26 and 185th exit. Small World princess:

Glad to hear we have other DVC members SO close :teeth:

Where is everyone's "Home" at WDW? We are OKW and maybe SSR (looking at models on the 19th)::MickeyMo

We live in Oregon City, OR and own at BCV. We go to WDW every year and are headed down again in 2 weeks. It's a long flight--especially with little ones!--but it's worth it!! :)

kinghenry- we're neighbors! I DO know where Oregon City is! Our home resort is BCV's- new members as of March- 2003! My first trip using DVC points is the day after TOMMORROW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Meeting my best friend from Wisconsin down there at OKW. Won't actually go 'home', home, until January 2004.
I'll have to make a note of all the Oregon DVC owners- maybe we can get together sometime! That might be fun! ANd all this time I thought I was the ONLY one crazy enough in Oregon to buy into the DVC! :earseek:

karebear1-- Hi neighbor! Hope you'll have a GREAT time at OKW!! That's a neat idea about getting the Oregon DVCers together sometime.

Montana Minnies-- We are so glad we joined DVC, even though we live so far away. One thing that it's allowed us to do is have the grandparents join us; we love it that we can all be together in one place.

Thanks to all for responding.:D
This is the most replies I have got so far to a thread of mine.
I may have to move to Oregon, that seems to be where most of the nw dvcers live. ;)
Have a great trip karabear1 !

We used to live in Miles City, but moved to Louisiana about 7 years ago.

Another one from Oregon!! We live in the Eugene/Springfield area .. GO DUCKS!! Hometown of Luke Jackson, future NBA stud.

We just bought into SSR and love WDW and Florida altogether. We love traveling with our 3 children and will be returning to WDW here shortly with an exchange into Old Key West ... we were so lucky to get! Own at Worldmark as well.

Florida is my old college stomping ground, although I am from Oregon. Love to meet up with my friends while we are there & we always have a fantastic time w/friends, sunshine and Disney.:sunny: :sunny:
