In Southern Ontario, where I live, fall's fashion show is as much as two weeks behind schedule.

According to our local newspaper, only 5% of the trees have changed colour. This time last year about a third were putting on a pretty display.

They say one of the problems is that we haven't had a really dramatic, quick, drop in temperature. Our September was much like an August, and that a couple of frosty nights would help to change the green to red.

I'd give you a report on today's colours, but when I look out the window, all I see is thick grey fog...!

Have the colours been slow to emerge in your neck of the woods? :)

Kim, we don't get much color around here even though we are in New england, famous for "leaf peepers".

We go from green to dead over night it seems.

No, nothing has changed here at all. And I don't think we'll get much in the way of dramatic color due to the lack of water all summer.

Do you sometimes feel like the weather is upside down? I certainly do these days.

Gold... with understories of crimsom red.... it is GORGEOUS!

Each day as I drive to work I pass a house in the country that has a beautiful big maple in the front yard. The shape and color of the tree is truly breathtaking... and with the early morning sun shining on it... well it makes me smile.

We did have a sharp change in the weather about a week ago - and I really believe that was the critical change that launched all the gorgeous colors.

Yesterday we had high winds all day. As I was driving home passing by the courthouse, the golden leaves were swirling down and on the roadway. It was eeerie and beautiful at the same time.

I love fall if you can't tell. :p

No dramatic change in central New Jersey.
With the wind and rain some leaves were blowing reds, yellow and orange. I noticed this because the roads were slick from the leaves.
Looking out the window today I see the tips of my maples are dark orange, the farm field is golden brown, splashes of yellow and orange on many of the trees to the horizon but most of them are still predominately green.
One of my little purple rhodies is in bloom! Crazy weather.

Slick red and yellow roads, gorgeous maples, and upside down weather. Certainly sounds like Fall! :)

Our forecast high today is only 46F, that will feel like Fall! :)

Right now it is pretty much green, green, green. The poplar trees have been changing color for about a month now. Their leaves haven't gotten quite as yellow as they have in the past, and they are starting to brown up a bit. Wonder when they will fall off!

The golden rain trees are loaded with red seed pods, and the red is starting to fade a bit.

The beautyberry is a gorgeous royal purple.

Our lawn got a bit brown and crunchy last week (no rain and I didn't water because we had company and were on the run most of the time!) Fortunately it rained last night and is supposed to rain today and tomorrow.

We've noticed tons of acorns this year. And here and there are small leaves that have fallen from the trees and collected in small piles in the corners of buildings.

And this is how it looked from a restaurant in Islamorada (near Key Largo) on Friday October 4. MAN, do I wish we were still there! I hope this link works!

Sunsets are my FAVORITE "landscape" colors! ;)

Gorgeous picture TigH! :) Now those kind of colours I could really get used too! :)

The colors in southern Wisconsin are SLOOOOWLY changing. It's been very cool -- highs in the 50s.

This is such a bitter-sweet time of year, clearing out the gardens and raking up the leaves. The trees are beautiful with their reds and oranges and yellows.

The first snowfall is so pretty, then I think, "ok, only 6 months more to Spring!". LOL.

I like the first snowfall too MidwestPiglet, it's still sort of special to me, even after all these years...lol! :)
