Curious about POTC changes

Pirates has been one of my favorites at DL since I was a kid. I'm taking my family (first time with our 6-month old) next week. I always get a little concerned when they try to update rides for a movie tie-in. What's the verdict on the additions/changes they've made to POTC? Is it just the Davey Jones projection-on-water effect in the tunnel and then Cap'n Jack in a few places? Did they change the sounds much?

It was more than that, although not much more. There were changes to the battle scene, and changes to the music where they now use the POTC theme music in parts of the ride. Overall, I think they did a fine job.

POTC has always been my favorite, and being a traditionalist I would have liked the ride to never change. But my realist side accepts that updating the ride with movie elements is an excellent idea that will keep the ride relevant for many more years to come - especially for my kids.

The changes don't really change the ride that much, trust me it was huge concern for me too! I wasn't thrilled at all that they were changing a classic, and took it as "if it ain't broke don't fix it!" point of view!

The Davey Jones part of the ride is really cool actually, and besides having Jack here and there the rest of the changes are quite small.

Now honestly I'd wish they'd just leave it at that though. But as I understand they want to add more from the movie. I really don't want to see it get over done, but as long as the changes stay "small" it's okay.

I was a wee bit apprehensive when we toured in December, being a traditionalist and all. But the first thing I noticed was the sound...it's awesome! You can actually here the dialogue now, along with the music that's been added. I wish they would do the same with Splash Mountain...

Jack is great, however, Barbossa doesn't look a thing like him (other than the hat, perhaps). They did a much better job with Johhny, particularly the final scene....

They kept a classsic and just bumped it up a couple of notches but I'm in agreement...that's plenty. Let's move on to some of the other rides that need upgrading/updating now.

I thought that the new Pirates additions were great! the Davy Jones thing gives that boring dark cave area some action. The new Jack Sparrow AA's are very realistic too.
