Curious about Main Entrance Ops

Hey guys. I've seen a lot of people saying that they put main entrance as one of their top choices for the CP. I'm just curious as to why this is!

Don't get me wrong, I'm by no means against it. I just never really gave it much thought on my previous CPs and definitely wouldn't have listed it as a top choice. I guess because I didn't know anyone that actually did the role personally. I've heard a few things about it, but nothing too in depth.

So yeah, I'm just wondering what your motivations are to choose that if you do? And if you have actually done the role before what did you love about it?

I loved it. I was MEO at Epcot and was trained in both turnstiles and Autoplaza (At Epcot you cannot be both parking and turnstiles/auto plaza - something about different unions)

Because I was at Epcot, I worked both the ME (Main Entrance) and IG (International Gateway) turnstiles. Heck, I stayed seasonal and will be back next weekend to work.

I never did main entrance, but I always thought it would be fun. I know a lot of people who loved doing main entrance at MK because you did the turnstiles and parade operations. With parade operations you set-up/tear-down the viewing areas for the parades and then get to do parade activities with the kids before it starts, so it's a great job to interact with the guests.

Epcot doesn't have PAC as they don't have a parade. That was the only thing I felt like was missing from my CP, I wanted to do some PAC and never was able to pick up a shift at another park

Yeah, I think MK might be the only one with PAC engrained in Main Entrance. DAK used to do Parade, but Dinoland has taken over all those responsibilities and I believe it's the Fantasmic staff at Hollywood who does parade (it was a year ago, so unless something has changed it's still them).

I chose it (along with atrac. and merch.) because I had to choose more than 2 and none of the others seemed appealing to me. :)

Main Entrance Ops has always been my favorite. You are the first and last person that guests see when they are at the park. You help get them get ready for a great day of adventure and if it didn't go so well, you can try to cheer them up in the end.

I came in as a cp at DAK parking, and got cross-trained 3 months later at Auto plaza (this was before the whole union issue.) I ended up getting pulled for fulltime at dak parking after my year as a cp. 2 months later I became a relief coordinator and therefore I got cross-trained at park greeter. And in January I restatused myself to Auto plaza/park greeter because its in the attractions union (long story.) But I can still train parking and auto plaza.

Main Entrance Ops is all about creating a great arrival process at the main entrance, and making sure it flows smoothly, is safe, and full of disney magic. I like that we don't have to deal with fastpasses and single rider queues. I like that the main entrance is pretty open and you have a little bit more freedom than you would somewhere inside the park, except maybe custodial. Oh and the parking lot gets a much better breeze than anywhere else at Dak in the summer. hahaha
