Curious about concierge

This is honestly pure curiosity. Our budget is pretty much maxed out at the moment, so I'm just wondering.

We've booked 6 nights at the Poly for August. We're planning to contact either gardengrocer or wegoshop to have water and breakfast foods delivered to the room, and we're on the DDP. We already have our ADRs.

What would be the additional benefit of booking Concierge (or is it called "club level"?) I know about the turndown service, but read here that we can request it at the Poly for free. We'll have snacks and stuff in our room thanks to the gardengrocer order. We won't need any planning info or special reservations or tickets, since obsessive-compulsive Alice has already booked everything.

I know that some people absolutely LOVE concierge. But what would it offer that we're not already getting?

You'll be all set with your snacks and such. We've done concierge (not at the Poly, tho) a few times and it is great to be able to head over for the contenental (sp?) breakfast, or to stop by inbetween parks for a coffee, but we've never used the lounge to the fullest. Meaning, we're never there for the nighttime offerings (I hear some people try to make a meal out of the appetizers, etc.), and we don't drink the fancy wines/liquors they put out late in the evenings.

Truthfully - we've only participated in conceirge because it CAME with the room we were choosing. And for AKL, we wanted to do the Sunrise Safari.

Others on the DIS say that you can skip concierge, and just do room service every morning, and save money!

I don't think you should do concierge along with the Dining Plan, especially if your budget is already "maxed out" as you posted. It's quite an increase in price (I think the room was rack rate $575 or $590 in Value season). Other than the turn-down service and itinerary planning services, the food is the real other benefit. I don't think you need it if you're on the dining plan. We chose concierge instead of the dining plan last trip.

We only did the Poly Concierge once and it was not by choice. We booked late because of DH job schedule and it was all they had left. We were not very impressed for what we paid for sure. I did a big review. When we checked in the safe was locked, there was a hole in the wall, the electrical outlet came out of the wall when ds unplugged the iron, the patio slider would not lock. The cm did fix a adr problem we had but that was about it. The food was o.k. Our 2 teen ds liked the soda, we dont drink alcohol so we didnt take advantage of that, we did have the breakfast but it got boring after a while, the offerings never change, and we had the 5 o clock offerings once. It was like a cattle stampede. DH bought some desserts back to the room once. They were good. All in all it is a nice luxury if you are perhaps celebrating a special occasion, but I would rather spend the extra on some nice meals in the restraunts etc.

Thanks everyone.

I'm not planning to look into it; I was just wondering if there was some big plus I was missing.

I'm thrilled with the arrangements we already have in place.

I used my AAA and saved over $350 for 8 nights at WL conceirge for December. There will be 4 of us in the room and we are on the DDP, definitely worth it to me at least for one special trip.

Who... me?

I was asking about booking a Concierge level room, wondering about the perks associated with it. They're not free though-- they're quite a bit more than the garden view room we booked.

Sorry I misunderstood. I don't think it's worth the extra money for concierge floor. The Poly. is just beautiful and I sure you'll really enjoy it.

Club level is not going to be a value in terms of lounge offerings for the vast majority of people. It is more about service and that is something that each person will quantify differently. While the service isn’t quite on par with what you would receive from a Ritz Carlton or Four Seasons, it does have a nice Disney feel. It is about the little things that some may not care about, but would completely make a vacation for someone else.

We just got back from the Poly concierge, April 18-23. We were double upgraded to concierge, Hawaii room 2315, as we only booked and paid for a garden view room. We enjoyed the extra amenities that came with this level of service but, personally, I would not spend almost an extra $200 per night for it. I would rather buy my daughter more princess dresses and accessories!!! When we were around, we relished in the afternoon snacks and drinks as well as the evening desserts, from 8-10 pm. There really wasn't too much for a breakfast so we used our counter services for breakfast and got drinks from the lounge. It wouldn't have made a difference if we didn't have the drinks for breakfast from the lounge because the DDP gives you two drinks per counter service, way too much food in my opinion!

We did really feel like royalty with turn down service but, simply have one person in your party go into your room before you do at night time to turn down your beds and lower the lighting to give you the same feeling!!!

You will be set with snacks in your room as well as the DDP in terms of having enough food for your stay.

Honestly, if you are on a budget, as we were, you will not miss anything!!! I will keep my fingers crossed that you receive the same pixie dust that we did!!! ENJOY your stay!!!
