Curiosity killed the cat...question for DVC MEMBERS

My 3 contracts are all resale. 2 were purchased before the restrictions on resales and 1 after the restriction were put in place. Also have 2 more resale contracts at ROFR.

Would only buy resale because of the huge price difference between resale and direct and because I want to use the points to only stay at DVC resorts so the restrictions on resale don't matter me.

The only downside to buying resale is the amount of time it takes (roughly 2 months, although I had one that took 3+ months as it was an out of country estate sale) and the fact that you might have to start all over again if your contract gets ROFR'd (which has happened to me). Saving 50% or more though makes it well worth while to go resale.

We are resale only. Just found out we passed ROFR today on OKW. We are not worried about the restrictions since if we want to cruise we can rent the points for the year out and pay OOP for the trip (same with anything really). We love OKW and the price savings made it more than worth it to us. The time from beginning to end is long but that is OK since we are in no hurry (as long as we can close before July which if we can't we have other issues).

We bought two contracts direct and one resale. When we bought our direct contracts there was not a big enough price difference to make resale worthwhile. I would only buy resale now, though Grand Floridian is quite enticing.

Bought in 1993 No resales then

OKW 56 dollars a point. 7 years park passes free. 230 point minimum
