Since Tutto Italia seems to be getting generally nay votes, where would you suggest we enjoy some good Italian food? My grandparents came from Venice, but I love all kinds and flavors of Italian food.

(My husband thinks I run marathons just to have an excuse to carbo-load. He's only half-wrong. ;)

Thanks,
Meredith

Honestly, with all of the threads I've read on here since I joined a few months ago, I'm not sure there IS a good Italian place in WDW... :confused3

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong!

Il Mulino at the Swan was excellent when we were there in March. We can't wait to go back in November! Unfortunately, if you are on DDP they don't accept it. IMHO more and more, DDP restaurants are mediocre food with good atmosphere. If you want truly good food, don't do DDP!

I hate to admit this, and I'll probably get boo'ed, but the food at Mama Melrose was extraordinarily good. Perfect mussels, amazing mozzarella and tomato, the best penne a la vodka I've ever had.

The service was abominable, though.

In my experience, you aren't. I have heard good things of Portobello since I last ate there, however. My understanding is that they're moving toward more specialized, unique dishes, which appeals to me as I think that most of the pesudo-Italian food in the World is boring and generic.
