Does it bother anybody else to see long hair flying around in the kitchen? Seriously, put it in a ponytail at least! Very few bakers have their hair secured and some actually keep pushing it behind their ears while baking.

I got really grossed out watching a "cake" show the other day. This was a show that I hadn't seen before, not Cake Boss or Ace of Cakes.
The head person - blew off excess edible glitter off a cake element, and off the big guitar-cake. YUCK.
I don't watch any of these shows but I assume that the food is made "just for the show" and the general public is not eating it?
I'm sure that when these cooks/chefs have to make the food to serve to the public, they have to abide by all the safety rules (handwashing, hair nets) and they probably don't sweat because they aren't working under a time constraint?![]()
I do not think that would be accurate. The winner's cupcakes are served at an event (usually a benefit or corporate party.) That's the premise of the show -- they're "battling" to see who will get to serve their cupcakes. There was a blurb in the USA Weekend magazine that's in the Sunday paper today asking what happens to the loser's cupcakes. Apparently they're offered to the crew, and any extras are donated to food pantries. They all get eaten.
Back the OP. I don't watch regularly, but I guess I never noticed the hair. I have noticed the sweat and/or wiping their brow with their hands and then going back to work. Ick. That does gross me out.
I saw that show too! She had her hair back mostly but I did comment about the assistant who's hair was all over the cake.
They DID serve that cake at an event too! It was disgusting.
The serve the Ace Of Cakes stuff too!
It does bother me, but not nearly as much as watching sweat drip off of people's faces.![]()
Um, was it a blonde who seemed bubbly, very outgoing? think a lesser down version of Anna Nicole Smith but doing cakes?
and tying one's hair back is in food prep 101, either that or a lunch lady net. and I never see anyone like on either cake or cupcakes show wash their hands but they could have done that prior to the show starting.
That's the one!
