Okay here is my dilemna. I orginally booked our trip @ Contemp resort and I was sooo excited, but due to some unexpected expenses I had to knock one night off the trip and move to CSR. I told the kids how great the slide was and that they would love this pool, they weren't too impressed with the slide @ CB last year. I just found out the slide will only be open the first two days we are there and I have those days we won't get back from touring until about 9 (no pool time). Should I switch to another resort? Kids are dd5 and ds7. thanks

Why not try one of the PO resorts? POFQ is a beautiful resort, it's small, has the boat to DTD, and a great pool, especially for kids. POR is also lovely, has the piano player/entertainer Bob Jackson, who puts on a great show, and also has a great pool, as well as several quiet pools. And you can take a carriage ride at either resort. Plus, your kids can try out both pools, since they are sister resorts. If the slide being closed is an issue, I think you would be very happy at either POFQ or POR!

regardless of which port orleans resort you stay at b/c they are sister resorts you can use both pools. POFQ is dragon and the slide is the tongue and POR they have a little island that there pool is on.

They will still love the pool and there is an arcade there. There is also a playground/sand box too. If they didn't like the CBR slide, they won't like the PO slides. CSR has the best slide. If the slide will make or break the trip then by all means switch but otherwise, I'd stay with CSR.

We have been to Disney 6 times and that makes me no expert. But, there was so much to do and we go only every other year that we never made it to the pool. We planned to, but there was so much else to do that it didn't happen. Unless the pool is a big highlight or you are planning a long trip I wouldn't worry to much. You will not run out of awesome things to do.
Happy Hopping and have a wonderful trip.

Definitely take the earlier advice and switch to the Port Orleans French Quarter.

That's my son's favorite pool of all the Moderates.

Your kids will love the dragon slide, and it's a great resort in general.

Call soon, rooms book up there as it's far smaller of a resort than the other Mods.

CSR definitely has the best slide of all the mods. POFQ is good for toddlers and POR and CBR are similar. Try to take advantage of the slide on the first few days. The pool itself is gret along with all the other amenities that are located at the main pool. You have a great time! Check out my CSR website below for pics and info.

With all due respect, I wouldn't say that the POFQ slide is for toddlers! I saw children of all ages having fun on it when we visited over at POFQ (we were staying at Riverside) Maybe teenagers wouldn't be wowed by it, but lots of kids seemed to like it. I don't know that I would even let a toddler go on it, but I'm a little overprotective! I'm sure the OP will enjoy whichever she decides on, slide or no slide!

As the OP stated, her kids were not impressed with the slide at CBR which is the same as POR and/or POFQ. There is no debating that CSR has the best slide of the mods and one of the best on WDW property. It's just too bad that it will be close during her stay but things like that happen. Maintenance work has to be performed.

CSR definitely has the best slide. Like Buzz said, take advantage of it while it's open-not to mention dates for construction and rehabs are not always accurate!

Yes, I read what the OP said, and maybe the slides at the PO resorts are similar to CBR (which I've never seen). But to label any of them as being "for toddlers" is misleading. If I was planning a trip with elementary age children and I read that, I would be hesitant to go there. When in fact I saw kids of all ages enjoying the slides at both POR and POFQ. Nobody is debating whether the slide at CSR is the best (which I have also never seen). But it's not the only one that kids (other than toddlers) will have fun on.

When is the slide at CSR going to be closed? I thought I did all my homework on this - we check in tomorrow night! DD is definitely looking forward to trying out that slide!

I don't think he meant it's ONLY for toddlers but that it is only good FOR toddlers. My kids think its lame because it is so small and slow. They are similar in age to the OP's kids. The POFQ slide is definitely the least desirable (for lack of a better word) of the mod slides. We've never stayed at CBR but CSR's slide rocks!!

The Jaguar Slide at Coronado Springs Resort's Dig Site will be closed on November 26 - December 14, 2007. Only the slide will be closed; the pool will remain open.

:confused3
I don't think they're equivalent in terms of theming. Maybe in design of the slide itself.

I have to agree about the POFQ pool being lame, my girls were 7 & 9 then and they quickly tired of it, of course they WERE comparing it to the deluxe pools. CSRs pool looks a lot "cooler" to them.

Lilolvr - thanks for the info on the slide closing! I am sooooo glad it isn't closing til Nov 26!!! Hopefully, the weather will be warm enough for DD to be able to swim! Thanks again!!

what exactly does everyone like about the CSR slide?

It just adds to the value of staying at the resort. You get a great main pool area that has the largest hot tub on WDW property, an arcade, a sand volleyball court, a huge pool, a playground and a kiddie pool. It's the longest slide of the mods at 123 ft. It's fast and curvy. A great ride for all ages.
