We are a Magical Gathering of 8 (2 rooms) and I'm wondering which rooms we should request for our 12/2 thru 12/5.

I'm wondering which room and/or section and how do I go about requesting the room?

Thank you!

I loved the Casitas section because of the fountains and landscaping. It was close to El Centro (could even get there under covered walkways during the rain). It was gorgeous. Ranchos was very barren and boring looking to me. Cabanas was ok - supposedly the best central location to both El Centro and the Dig Site pool. The pool was a bit of a walk from Casitas 2 where we were. You can't go wrong at CSR no matter where you end up. Enjoy !! Be sure to do Tony's Grand Gathering Breakfast with your Magical Gathering group at Magic Kingdom. It was great !!

Cabana 9b is close to bus stop 1 and the main building with a short walk to the Dig Site over the wooden bridge. Most convenient, most preferred.

Cabana 8a is close to the Dig Site and bus stop 4 with a short walk to the main building.

cabana 8b and 9a are inbetween the 2 above. 9a has a quiet pool and is also a smoking optional building.

Ranchos 7b has a quiet pool, is close to the Dig Site and bus stop 4 with a bit longer walk to the main building. 7b is behind cabana 8a.

The casitas are close to the gym, spa and have great fountains and courtyards. casita 5 is close to the Dig Site with a good walk to the main building. The lower the casita number the closer towards the main building. Casta 4 has a quiet pool.

The top 4 pics are of the casitas and the bottom are of the main pool.

We were just at CSR (10/4 - 10/8) with 9 people (grand gathering) and 3 rooms

We requested (our travel agent), the cabanas section, However I sent my sister to check in at 8AM and no luck. We ended up with the Casitas. It turned out we really liked it over there but it was a nice walk to both to the dig site and el centra. We were in Casitas 4. The nice part is that the bus spot was right in front of us.

All and all my family loved CSR. So no matter where you end up you will like. The moral of the story, don't have your heart set on one section like I did because I was really disappointed when I found out that we were in the Casitas Section and not the cabanas as I had hoped!!!!!!!!

sounds like a reason to go back!

We were in Casitas 4 in June. We had a room only discount-so we had 2 rooms! They faced the parking lot. The thing is the view of the parking was hidden by beautiful landscaping. We had a gorgeous walk to the "pyramid" pool ot the Pepper Market. Nobody minded because all we could say was OOOH and AHHHH.

I think it depends on what you will utilize. If you have younger kids that you will take afternoon breaks with or will want to go to the dig site all the time (and not the quiet pools) then I would request Cabanas 8A . It is literally a few steps to it and also steps to bus stop 4. There is also a Ranchos 7B building which is also pretty close to the above as well. We stayed in Cabanas 8A and LOVED it since we had younger kids, we took turns as to who would watch while they napped and the others went to the pool and pool bar Siestas. It was nice to be close. We also took night swims and hot tub dips that we may have not if we weren't so close. Cabanas 9B is also a good place - close to El Centro and a bridge takes you directly to the Dig Site. I requested that as my #1 but I was glad to have 8A (my 2nd choice) once we arrived. We were hardly ever at El Centro and when we did have to go, we took a hotel shuttle if we didn't want to walk. I rather use the hotel shuttle for those few times heading to El Centro then in bathing suits or getting to a bus stop.

Personally I thought Casitas was the prettiest but it didn't seem too close to a bus stop or the Dig Site. But the fountains and landscaping are wonderful there. If you rather use a quiet pool, I would be tempted to stay there. Honestly though, I don't think you can go wrong anywhere in the Cabanas section.
