CSR -vs- BWV Studio

I'm hoping the experts can help me with this question. I had been planning on renting points to stay at BWV in a Studio. As a back up plan I chose CSR for the 7 night stay.

I just learned that daily housekeeping for the Studios is not included and that on day 4 they come in and do a room clean and replenish the towels.

If I wanted daily housekeeping and towels it is an extra $25 per day. There are no washer/dryers in the Studio and you have to wash them on your own in a laundry room or pay $6 per day for a set of new towels.

This is the burning question: Is it worth the $$$ staying in the Studio for the extra room, fridge, wetbar, and microwave AND have to do laundry myself or pay for fresh towels everyday? I normally tidy the room and put the wet towels in the tub every morning for housekeeping on my own BUT we do like fresh towels every day. I should note we bring our own beach towels with us so we can find our pool chairs.

Or should I just save the money, stay at CSR with daily housekeeping and rent a fridge? Hubby thinks if you spend the extra $$$ for a deluxe resort in a Studio daily housekeeping should be included.

As for me, all I can picture is a "towel tent city" in the room for a week constantly drying towels. Also, I am on vacation and don't want to deal with going to a laundry room. It would be much different if we were in a Villa with washer/dryer. Put the towels in the washer in the morning before you head out and when you come back, throw them in the dryer.

Any thoughts? Am I being too picky?

I can tell you that the BWV studio is much nicer than the CSR room. It has an the wet bar set up, with toaster (if you request it) & fridge. Overall, between the tile work, amenities & locations BW is a better choice, but it does (and should) cost more than CSR, afterall it's a deluxe property. Laundry is free if you choose to do it yourself.

We moved from CSR to BWV's last September & I definitely noted the studio was nicer from all regards.

How much money would you be spending on the studio? I saw someone say they'd gotten BCV studio for 189.00 on Expedia, that would include housekeeping.

We rented points last year at BWV and had a great time...we really enjoyed the pool and the extra room, fridge and microwave. WE loved being close to Epcot and a variety of walking-distance restaurants. We only stayed two days, so the towel situation wasn't an issue. However, they do have towels at the pool, so you don't have to use the ones from the room.

We are DVC members.

Prior to joining DVC, we stayed at moderates (DxL). One of our major concerns when we joined DVC was about daily housekeeping and towels.

On our first trip to BWV as DVC members we found that we actually liked not having daily housekeeping. You don't have to rush out of the room in the morning or worry about what time you can go back to the room.

The towels are $6 per set of four (i.e. 4 bath towels, 4 hand towels, 4 wash clothes). Last Feb asked housekeeping for another set of towels and I am sure they brought more then that. We did only get charged for 1 set however.

Even adding on the $ 6 per day, a BWV studio is MUCH, MUCH better then a moderate IMHO. You can save the $ 6 by eating breakfast in the room, since you have a toaster, coffee pot, microwave, refrig.

Hope this helps,

I agree w/ above. There is no comparison between the two resorts. Please understand though...if you are renting points you will NOT get any maid service at all. On the fourth day they will do a "trash/towel" day. They will Not clean your room. At least not on pts they won't. ;) I don't think you will regret spending the extra money for such a lovely resort.

I also recall hearing that for studios, there is free use of a washer and dryer that is located by the pool area. If you're going to spend a couple of hours at the pool, you could throw the towels in and pick up on way back from pool.

I agree with caverill. You can't compare a mod to a deluxe. I love the way the BW looks from the outside. I don't know anything about it but I know if I every splurge on a resort someday, it would be the BW.

I have to clarify the housekeeping question for you. I am a DVC member, and have questioned this several times during my DVC stays. You will only get trash and towel service on the fourth day. You will not get a full cleaning. You only get the full cleaning on day four if you are staying eight NIGHTS or more. If the eighth day is your check out, it doesn't count as a day. Your room in this case will be cleaned before you arrive and after you check out unless you pay the extra for the cleaning in between.

 I dunno folks....the more I read the replies the more sure I am I will stay at CSR. On another thread about housekeeping I was told BWV are not a dexluxe resort, but a home away from home, and that BWI was deluxe, and they should not be considered in the same category. And yet on another thread I have read people refer to CSR as a dexluxe resort at a moderates price.

I agree that BW is absolutely incredible and I would love to stay there sometime. But I will likely stay in the Inn section. The Studios don't sound like such a bargain to me anymore.

Yesssss, I could do laundry while there for fresh towels but I won't. I am on vacation and that means on vacation from cooking, laundry, and cleaning.

I don't mind so much paying $6.00 per day for fresh towels but what about the bedsheets? Do those get changed on day 4 too and that's it?! I change sheets at home every 2 days. And the bathroom? My bathroom is cleaned everyday. I will not go on a vacation and have my standard of living changed just because it's BWV and I was lucky to get in there.

I will simply go and stay at CSR where I will have daily housekeeping and tip $5 per day versus $25 for BWV.

Hope this hasn't offended anyone. I was just trying to get varying opinions before I go and spend A LOT of money for this vacation. Thanks for your help.

:)

Given your criteria, I would say that CSR might be a better option since the housekeeping is daily. I agree that paying $ 25 per day is to much for housekeeping.

However, I believe that BWV is very much a Deluxe resort. In fact, the features in the studios, 1 bedroom, 2 bedroom and Grand Villas are far superior to the other deluxe resorts IMHO.

Disney calls the DVC resorts "Home away from Home" because the rooms offer features that even the deluxe resorts don't have. A standard studio is bigger then any standard deluxe room and features a "wet bar" area with Microwave, Refrig, Toaster, and coffee pot. If you move up to 1 bedroom or bigger, you get a full kitchen, washer and dryer, and a master bedroom with whirlpool.

The other feature that goes along with the deluxe resort is the location. CSR is a very nice resort, from what I have seen (we have never stayed there), but the location of BWV is far superior. It is a 5 minute walk to EPCOT and a 10 minute walk to MGM. You also have a huge selection of places to eat (not even counting EPCOT). The Boardwalk also provides a great deal of entertainment.

You won't go wrong with any of the Disney resorts IMHO!

One additional idea...rent DVC points and try a one bedroom and split your stay between BWV and CSR.

Disney will move your luggage (of course you will have to pick).

It is almost like taking two vacations when you change resorts.

Also, look for deals. If you stay at BWV using cash, you get daily housekeeping. Only DVC members don't get the daily cleaning, which saves the members money since the members pay the bills.

Any decision you make will work out.

Good luck!!!

Caverill,

I agree with you on your points. In our opinion, the BWV's beat all deluxe on site properties, no question. But, they do & should cost more. Also, even in a moderate they do not change your sheets daily. We always stay in the 1 bedrooms, between the kitchen, whirlpool, washer/dryer & separate bedrooms, we are in heaven!

If you book directly from Disney (CRO), daily housekeeping IS INCLUDED. That includes fresh towels every day. (As far as I know, though, none of the Disney resorts change sheets every day). There would be no difference in housekeeping services between a room at the BWI (or any deluxe hotel) and a studio at BWV.

By renting points from a DVC member, you are actually a "guest of the member". Since members do not receive daily housekeeping as part of their membership, you will not either. As you know, members do have the option to pay for these services if they want them. FWIW, most timeshares do not offer daily housekeeping to their owners. Feeling the way you do about daily housekeeping, I would not recommend that you rent points from a DVC member. You will be happier if you book directly from Disney or choose another resort.

I am a DVC member and do not miss daily housekeeping at all. Even though I think CSR is a very nice resort, it just does not compare with BWV in terms of location or amenities. But that's JMHO.

I'm sure you will have a good time no matter where you decide to stay.

I am a DVC member with my home resort at BWV so we have stayed there many times. We have also stayed at CSR many times and it is our favorite moderate resort, however CSR can't even begin to compare to how nice BWV is. BWV is very much a deluxe resort and has all the deluxe resort amenities available that all the WDW deluxe resorts have. CSR is nice but bottom line BWV is much nicer. and in a much better location.
You will not get clean sheets on the beds everyday or every other day no matter which WDW resort you stay at.
Since you want your room cleaned everyday and want clean towels everyday maybe staying at CSR would be a better choice for you. You will be getting these two things but you will definitely be getting the lesser of the two resorts. As you can see from every reply to your post this is not just one person's opinion it is a fact. This is why BWV is a deluxe resort and CSR is a moderate resort and their prices reflect this distinction. I hope you enjoy your trip wherever you stay. :)
