Looking for some guidance on our first trip to disney world during the holidays (with children 3 and 9). Booked at CSR for 3 nights but now have an option to upgrade to WL with woods view - $400 to upgrade. For those familiar with these resorts, is the upgrade really worth it in your opinion? I think I know where I am going with this - just wanting someon to convince me to do it :goodvibes or for someone to be the voice of reason and tell me to hold tight. :rolleyes1 Thanks.

Leaving in 2 days for Wilderness Lodge. We love this resort. Something I really like about this resort is that it is all under one roof.. You do not have to go outside to get to your room. The holiday decorations are great and this resort has a cozy feel to it.
I have never stayed at CS, but have visited. It looks very nice too. I think no matter where you stay you will have a wonderful time in Disney.

I love CSR.... but for the holidays... WL is beautiful and I would do it!!

WL is a beautiful resort...especially during the holidays. I would take the upgrade for sure!

Definitely WL during the holidays. We've never stayed at CSR, but the WL is one of our favorite resorts and the lodge is amazing all decorated for Christmas :santa:. For us, the extra cost is definitely worth it :goodvibes.

Both resorts for Holiday seasons are exquisite in their own way. I've stayed at the Coronado Springs many times for the Holidays and I love it, it's beautiful but the Wilderness Lodge is amazing too. It's all about personal preference, if you can afford it go for it but they're both beautiful. Enjoy your vacation! :)

I'd say it depends on you and your budget. I've stayed at both resorts and enjoyed both. However, we REALLY loved WL. It's such a beautiful resort and very close to MK. Is it worth the $400 upgrade? I think only you can decide that!

I've stayed at both and WL is by far my favorite. But, I also liked CS alot as well. If I was going to be spending some time at my hotel, then I would say go for the upgrade. However, if you're going to just be sleeping and eating at the resort, then I would say the upgrade isn't worth it, even if WL is a beautiful hotel.:rotfl:

With this being our first trip, I am going to hold tight at CSR but change our plans so that we make time to visit WL, GF, CR, Poly. and AK, to take in the holiday scenery and possibly help us better understand what we really want to do next time. I guess with the CSR, I am neither setting the bar too high nor too low. Is it just me, but since booking this trip for my family a month ago, I all of the sudden feel the need to read everything about every disney hotel and second-guess everything? Time to just go with the flow, I guess. Thank you all again.

Personally I would go with the Wilderness Lodge for this reason. All of their rooms are located in one main building and you are an elevator ride away from their stores, restaurants, transportation options, pool and etc.

Coronado Springs has various buildings and is very spread out, so when staying there you could be a very long walk away from their stores, restaurants, Bus sections and etc.

^^^^^^^Not helping :rotfl2:

I have read a lot of reviews/comments that raise some of the issues you raised. We did, however, elect to go with a preferred room to hopefully cut out some of the long walks to and from the main lobby, food, and bus stops.

The resort being spread out is also part of it's appeal for some. Even when the resort is full which is alot more people than WL, it never feels that way. It's always peaceful and relaxing, same as CBR. The length of the walks are greatly exaggerated. We stayed in building Ranchos 7B last time which almost as far away as you can get and it was only a 7 min walk to the main building.

Having said that, WL has a stunning lobby and pool area, very beautiful as well. But you will get more of a busy crowded feeling at the holiday time when it's full.

The question is are you spread out relaxing resort people or hotel people?

No, it's not just you! In fact, there's a thread somewhere on here about "can't decide" and "resort changers." ;) You're in good company!
