Hello Everyone,

We will be staying at the Coronado Springs on Oct 28-nov 5th. I have an ECV rented for the entire time from Randy's Mobility. My question is what room or building do we ask to find a big enough room to negotiate an ECV into the room to recharge at night etc?

We'd like to be centrally located near El Centro, but not too far from the The Dig Site. Where should I request for our room to be? Anyone know what rooms or furnishings might be better over another?

Thanks all,

Mike

BTW...Cross posted this over in Resort Hotels

Can't help you with an ECV but I use a regular wheelchair, have always been in the Casitas, and have never had a problem.

I'm looking forward to see what everyone tells you cause we're going Thanksgiving week and staying at CSR. We've requested Cabana 9B. DH ordered his ECV yesterday from Scootarama.

Here are some good room choices

Cabana 9b is close to bus stop 1 and the main building with a short walk to the Dig Site (main pool) over the wooden bridge. Most convenient location and most preferred.

Cabana 8a is close to the Dig Site (and playground) and bus stop 4 with a short walk to the main building. (Closest to the Pool)

Cabana 8b and 9a are in between the 2 above. 9a has a quiet pool and is also a smoking optional building.

Ranchos 7b has a quiet pool, is close to the Dig Site and bus stop 4 with a bit longer walk to the main building. 7b is behind cabana 8a.

Casita 3 has great courtyard and fountain views but you will have to walk or ride the internal shuttle to get to the pool.

Casita 5 has some nice fountain and lake views and is close to the Dig Site but farther from the main building.

Request a corner room, as they have more room. I'll echo the previous poster that Cabanas 9A and B are closest to El Centro and bus stop 1, and just a short, less than 5 minute, walk to the Dig Site. 9A is closer to parking and the quiet pool.

Hey Buzz, with a manual wheelchair I never found the walk to the Dig Site from Casita 3 to be long. It was a beautiful stroll :)

All rooms (except suites) at CSR are exactly the same size - 240 square feet, I think (actually, POR and POFQ are the same as well; CBR's rooms are 256 sq. ft.).
Casitas and Cabanas are closest to El Centro, but even then some rooms are closer than others.
ALL rooms are large enough to accommodate an ECV; it can then be charged using the outlet near the table. You'll see what I mean when you get there.
In a Value resort, I'd "strongly suggest" requesting a king room, but in the moderates, especially with at least two people (one to hold the door, one to operate the ECV), you'll be fine.

You had better check your numbers. All the Value Resorts are 260 sq ft. All the moderates are 314 except CBR which is 340. My figures are total square footage, which includeds the bathroom and dressing areas.

I never had problems at any resort in finding a parking place for the ECV. Sometimes I might have had to move a table or chair.

Also, I would always travel with a short (six foot) heavy duty extention cord (at least 15 amp capacity) to assist in plugging in the charger.
