First let me say that thank you for all the advice, all though I was dissapointed with CSR, I am glad we stayed. As it is our hope to stay at every Disney Resort eventually.

I thought the hotel itself was amazing. The motif of the hotel was more elaborate and decorated then the POFQ or any of the values (I have stayed at POFQ, Pop, and all the All-Stars). Too cold for the pool, but it looked awesome. Ate at the Pepper Grill once, thought it was a neat idea. The selection of food was great for a "food court", a little pricey, but hey it is Disney. Unfortunatly I ordered the Pork with Peanut Sauce, I would not recommend, but I think that is a personal choice, my DW loved her pizza. All the food seemed fresh and tasty. Never tried the Maya Grill. I thought the landsacaping and the different themed areas were all well done.

Exterior of Hotel, Landscaping, pool, etc. A+ :cheer2:

I was a little disappointed with the room itself. I thought the décor of the room was somewhat ugly (Casitas), but I believe that beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder. I know that it is a mexican theme, but the carpet and bed spreads were too brown and green. I saw pictures of other Casitas rooms on-line before I left and they seemd brighter. I just wasn’t impressed with the room it showed signs of aging throughout; bathroom tile, loose drawer knobs, very loud AC that did not seem to work great.

Room B-

My biggest problem was the staff. The check-in staff; which I will be the first to admit, it was busy when we checked in and it was in the later part of the evening so I am sure they were tired, but they were not all that friendly. In fact I saw other guest leave with folders, which I assume had Disney information and other “neat” stuff which I enjoy to look at. In fact let me know if I'm wrong but when we stayed in POFQ I thought they gave us a postcard showing the POFQ on it, am i right??? Well our check-in person gave us a map of the grounds and a parking pass. Her attitude was neutral at best and was not what I am accustomed to from Disney. I felt that a large % of the staff had this neutral at best (rude if I wanted to be picky) attitude.

However, what really bothered me was our housekeeping issues. On our first day at the park we came back for an afternoon rest at 2:30ish and our room had not been made up. I called the front desk, not angry, just to make sure that it had not been overlooked. When I asked why my room wasn’t made, I was told “Well, they haven’t made it to yours.” I told her that was fine that we would be resting for about an hour and for them to please wait to come by until after we left. Well then she surprised me by saying that housekeeping only worked till 3:30, implying that they wouldn’t be coming by. Obviously this changed the tone of the call. I first told her that I was surprised the room wasn’t already cleaned, because most hotels I have stayed in (including Disney) usually make up your room in the morning. She replied by saying “they have a big hotel and lots of rooms to clean” and that the “hotel is spread out.” Well I was frustrated now and told her that I would expect that they would hire a staff proportionate to the size of the hotel. She did not reply to that and rudely asked “so you want housekeeping to come by after 3:30?” To which I said yes and she said okay and hung up. When we came back that night the room had been made up, thankfully.

The following day we came back for a rest and did not leave until 4:00 and housekeeping had still not come by. The thing that really got me however, was the day we checked out as we were taking our things to the car (about 11:15 am), we had just taken the do not disturb sign off the door, and went down to drop our first load. In the 4 minutes we were downstairs, housekeeping had already dropped off new linens and towels to make the room up. As we left the room, with our second and last load, a housekeeper was standing right outside impatiently waiting for us to leave. I just found it amusing and honestly frustrating that we had not seen housekeeping all weekend until the day we were checking out.

To really top it off, when we checked in the first night we did not think the room was cleaned up to begin with. There was bunch of smudges all over the full length mirror and the tub did not seem all that clean. We had not originally minded, we were so excited to be on vacation, but after all that, it is just dissapointing that housekeeping seems to have such low standerds.

I don't want to sound to complainy or switch subjects, but I believe that the hotel should have enough staff to both clean guest rooms and turnover rooms. It appears from what I can tell that they are mort concened with getting rooms ready, then making up the staying guest rooms.

Staff and Housekepping D-

Overall I gave the hotel a B-. This is beacuse, I really didn't mind the housekeeping issue as I much as I complained about it. I was just very put off by the attitude of the staff considering that we are paying extra for the Disney Magic. Not that I expect "extra" service, just good cheerful customer service which I normally get at hotels like Hampton Inn, which I regularly stay at.

Anyways sorry to vent. Let me know if you have any questions. And please don't let my review sway your decision on whether you stay at CSR.

I'm so sorry you had to deal with CM's with such poor customer service skills. We love the CSR and were there this Oct. 4 thru the 11th and coud not have had better service (and with a smile) from all the CM's we encountered. Our room was very clean. We were also on the late end of the cleaning schedule (about 2:30 every day) we just figured somone had to be last. We had the same type of experience at the WL with CM's poor attitude. For some reason (other than the waiters at Artist Point) all the CM's we dealt with seemed to be having a bad day! I am glad overall that you enjoyed your trip!

You are not the first person to have an issue with the checkin CM's and housekeeping. I can't even count on both hands how many people I have heard to say the same thing!! I am sorry to hear that but very happy to hear you still had a wonderful trip! I think this is why it is the only resort other than SSR that I have not stayed at and am really on the fence about. Oh well, we will see!

Sorry to hear about your experience with housekeeping.

We have always had good luck with CSR. We usually break and return to the resort around 1-2pm when we visit WDW because of the little ones and we never had an issue with the rooms not being cleaned by then. They were always done early. Maybe CSR or WDW in general are short staff.

As far as check-in staff, they have always been great with us.

I think that is because in general, only the negatives post. If you come back from WDW and have a good check-in, you don't mention it because it was expected. Look at the rash of threads for theft lately.

The brighter pics are prior to the rehab in 2004. The new ones are darker and similar in all villages. Not sure how central AC can be noisey but to each his own. Plus they work on motion sensors so they tend to turn off without the movement. Not a fan of these either.

I disagree, never had any bad experiences at CSR with any of the CM's...knock on wood.

I appreciate everybodies replies. As I stated the purpose of my review was not to affect the opinons of others on CSR. I understand full well that my experience was unique and had I gotten a different check-in person and a different housekepper, my experience would have likely been different.

This is a very pity issue, but nobody has answered it, are you not supposed to recieve a folder when you check-in at Disney hotels with brochures of DTD and other stuff??

Just to clarify, the AC was not loud when it ran. But every time it turned itself on it made a LOUD clicking noise. The first night we had the air turned on low (cold) so the AC would turn itself on every 5 -10 minutes and it kept us up throughout the night. On the subsequent nights we just turned the fan up and had the AC up alot higher so it did not seem to turn itself on (and make the loud clicking noise) as much. I didn't realize they had motion sensors, but maybe that is why it didn't seem to work as well. Well I guess you learn something everyday. ;)

We also just returned from CSR and overall really loved it. The AC was an issue in the beginning. When we got to our room, it was warm and stuffy, thermostat read 73 even though it was set at 65. Once we got in the room, AC began to run, so I thought it was OK. Went to the Pepper Market to eat, returned, and again warm with the AC not running until we began to move around the room. It was about 10pm at this time, we were ready to go to bed but I knew I would not be able to sleep if it was this warm. Called maintenace to come look at the AC, they were there within 10 minutes. She explained to me that the AC is on a motion sensor, but showed me how to override it. Worked great after that. She also explained that it will reset itself to the motion sensor mode in 48 hours, you simply need to override it again. We were in Ranchos 7A, don't know if the rest of the resort is set up the same.

CSR is a beautiful resort!!

Well now the AC issue really makes sense. When we checked in I noticed the air was set much lower then the actual tempeture, thats why I figured it wasn't working properly. I wonder what other Disney hotesl have AC set up like this??

You should have received a folder with a transportation map, a map of the resort with your room circled on it, maps of each of the theme parks, downtown disney, park hours and special event list, and possibly more.

We got one at Pop in June, as well as other resorts on previous trips.
