CSR rant long sorry

I just have to ask why everyone says that the CSR is so spread out. We stayed there this past christmas for 16 days and never did the walk seem long to el centro. We were in the ranchos we were given cabanas apon check in but asked for ranchos. Now I have to say we are a family that is made up of mostly pooh sized people. My mother had open heart surgery that july and has a bad knee, my father smokes three packs a day and sounds like a freight train when he gets winded. However we never found the walk long it was a short trip over the bridge and around the corner to el centro. We tried every way we could to make the walk the 10 -15 minute walk that we were hearing so much about. Never found the way. We spent a lot of time resort looking and have to say that POR and CBR are just as spread out if not more so than the CSR. Is it the lack of trees that makes the walk seem so far? Thanks for the vent

Have to agree with you here. I just assumed that some people must hate to walk---at all. I probably did less walking at CSR than when we stayed at BC. At CSR the bus drops you off pretty close to your room. At BC after getting off the bus, we had a long hike thro' the hallways to get to our room.

I'm not really venting, because to each his own, but I sure didn't feel like walking was a problem at CSR!

I agree too. CSR is a great resort and the walk is part of the beauty of the resort.

I always think it's kind of funny when people who will walk miles and miles around Epcot numerous times a day get so bent out of shape by a little walk around a resort. We stayed at CBR once and were expecting these huge hikes and never could figure out how to make the walk that long!

Now, I do have to add that we are two mid-20's and don't have any kids. Ask me about my feelings on this subject again after I'm joined by a stroller and a tired, Mickeyed-out three year old/toddler/infant - well, any child really. I've already stated that it will be monorail resorts when we finally have kids.

I didn't find the walk to El Centro and the Dig Site too long, but then again we were in Cabanas 8B. I didn't mind the walk too much. I'm not sure about staying in Ranchos cause we do tend to go to food court a lot and walking back and forth might get too old fast.

We really enjoyed this resort. My kids love the Dig Site and the pool. My son can swim now so he can enjoy the water slide there and my daughter just loves the water.

Remember, many folks also think of CSR as "so far out of the way", when it's actually the most centrally located in terms of how long it takes to get to the four major parks.

Don't know how these things get started - but as a moderate fan in general whose favorite it CSR, I'm happy enough to defend it from misstatements.

(Yes, it *is* the farthest from DD, but in terms of just the parks, it's the best located in terms of bus and/or drive time.)

I loved the walk from El Centro to the Ranchos. It is my favorite area to stay and I would like to go back but I am giving all the mods equal time before I chose one as my fave.

I really liked this resort two years ago and I would stay there again. I don't remember exactly which building we stayed in; just that it was at the very back of the resort. It was a good 15 minute walk to the Pepper Market to refill our mugs. We are FAR from Pooh-sized and have no problems with walking/exercising at all. But that is a long way to go for a drink.

We just came back. We were in Casitas 4. I think that the reason we felt it was a little bit of a walk is because we were on our last 2 days of a 10 day trip and were spoiled by being right next to the elevator to the pool at the akl. The AKL is completely convenient in comparison to CSR when it comes to pools and Food courts. However, I really did like CSR and plan to go back. The only part we will avoid will be the food court which was overly priced.

We were just there two weeks ago and were in Casitas building 5. This is about as far away from things as possible. We didn't realy care for the resort, things are to spread out for our taste. It did not ruin the trip or anything like that, just would not stay there again. I guess afer walking many miles in the parks, the last thing we wanted to do was take another long walk for a meal.

It's not just this resort. It amuses me to read the posts about people wanting the building closest to the food court, pool, etc. and griping when they don't get it.

My daughter(15) and I (42) always ask for the building FARTHEST from the main building. We like to walk and explore the resort we are staying at, not just walking in the parks. I have health issues (2 spinal surgeries, nerve damage, arthritis, etc). Because we ask for the opposite of what most people ask for..........we have been upgraded each and every time! Our last trip (May 2004) we asked for either bldg 1 or 7 at POFQ. When checking in, I asked if it was possible to get a view other than the parking lot (which is what our ressie was). We got bldg 7, with a river view! It was so quiet (there was no one else in the rooms around us for the whole 9 days).

We have done this each trip we've made. Part of the attraction of a WDW vacation is exploring the resort that you are staying at!

I have never thought it was to spread out either, its really pretty.

We did have a walk the one time I stayed there but it wasn't anything big. Basically you can find long ways around there to anything but there are also a lot of short-cuts as well.

So far this is my favorite moderate resort (haven't been to FQ yet)

I am so with you on that. I have said that so many times.

I agree about CSR - we were in Ranchos and it just didn't feel that far of a walk to me. Two years later we stayed at CBR in Jamaica and, for me, it felt like a much further walk. I realize it probably wasn't any further, but it really felt like it. Maybe because at CSR you can see everything because it's so open like the southwest, you can see your progress; but at CBR it's more closed in and you can't see where you are going so much. For me CSR didn't seem nearly as spread out as CBR.
