Pro's and Con's of both CSR and POFQ

Us - in our 60's just DH & DW
7 day Park Pass - no hopping
Pool is just to cool off - and we do not want to be surrounded by little ones

A resort gift shop with some food items is a plus.
Good bus system too
At least 3 drawers to unpack in.

Thank you for your expert advice.

POFQ is very popular with young families.
Because it's small and it's pool is themed for young plus has a brand new splash pad.

CSR is very adult oriented, plenty of food options and their grab/go is a nice one.
We love the buses here, especially since the resort is about center to everything.

CSR maybe best - but we do not want Rancho's again - to far to walk to the main building.

Which section would be best for us?
Casita or Cabana?

OP DH and I aren't too far behind you age wise. We have stayed at POFQ and yes there can be small children but that can happen in any WDW resort.Never felt surrounded by them. We like the option of the boat to DS and being able to walk up to POR (you can use their pools too). We always use the buses to the parks and for the most part the service has been very good.

CSR with a "preferred room" sounds like a great option for you. Preferred rooms are a short walk to the lobby and food, they have a nice gift shop, and there are a few quiet pool options at the resort. Casitas are also farther from the "main" pool where families will spend their time. I believe that the preferred rooms are all Casitas, and bus stop #2 is where you want to be. It's the first stop for most buses, so you won't have to worry about being skipped over because the bus is full. There are both quick service (food court style with many choices) and table service options. We like CSR a lot, and the location isn't terrible either.

CSR fits all of your needs. POFQ does too, except they only have one pool so it is rarely quiet. CSR has multiple pools and there is hardly ever anyone in the non themed pools.

I like being in Casitas 4. It is non preferred, so you are not paying any extra. But it is right by the first bus stop picked up on the way to the parks (stop #2) and there is a nice quiet pool right there.

I agree with this 100%. CSR is more adult oriented than POFQ. The buses here is honestly the best i've ever experienced out of all the values and mods. Never waited long and never had to stand. Not even from the park. And the location is central.

Casita or Cabana?
We stayed in Cabana 8A. It was right across the main pool, by the bus stop, and a short walk over the bridge to the main building. If you go with either Cabana 8A or 8B you'll be fine. 8B will put you closer to the bus stop, which may be more convenient now that i think of it. Keep in mind that often i didnt have to go to the main building for mug refills or snacks because they have those at the main pool. Its wonderful!

Coronado Springs is under construction right now and are doing a room refurbishment if that will bother you. They were working on the Cabanas area. We just got back and didn't find the construction too intrusive. For you I would look at the Casitas area. It will be closer to the main building and bus stop #2 (which is the first pick up and drop off from the parks). We love CSR because of the central location and the pools. Cheers!!!!!

Staying in CSR in Aug for the first time. POFQ was lovely for the theme (and beignets on demand), but it is also the smallest resort in the fold. It is not like CBR (largest, a few years back anyway) which was large and packed with kids. Smaller resort, smaller lines at buses, quieter.

That said, we are going to CSR for the pool AND it is $50 a day cheaper than POFQ and POR right now for the dates in early Aug.

I would vote for POFQ. Much more peaceful and easy to navigate. The boats to Dis Springs are great. I found the pool to less chaotic as the themeing isn't quite as elaborate. CSR is just huge and I felt the pool to be much more active. Of course, any Disney pool is going to have children's activities in the afternoon.

They are my two favorite moderate resorts, you can't go wrong with either. I don't think that you can avoid little ones at any resort and the theme pool at CSR is very popular with the kids, but you would probably really enjoy one of the quiet pools at CSR. I can honestly tell you that bus service at any resort is hit or miss. I have not had bus issues at POFQ or CSR, but that can change on any day. CSR also has a nice little store area that you can pick up a limited amount of food supplies.

We stayed at CSR back in 2006 for our Honeymoon. We loved it. Very beautiful. Quieter than I thought it would be. I think b/c of how big it is and how it is geared more towards adults is why we didn't see a lot of kids. There will be kids, but just not like the other resorts. We stayed in the Casitas, but if and when we stay there again I would like to try the Cabanas. The pool is really pretty at night. Never stayed at POFQ, but heard it is pretty, it's just not high of out list bc the jester decor looks like creepy clowns. I don't do clowns. It's why I'll never stay the Boardwalk either.

CSR gets my vote, especially in a preferred room (which would be in the Casitas section). Although you do need to consider if the construction will bother you or not. If not, CSR has better facilities, dining and pools than POFQ, IMO. It is also more 'adult' in atmosphere, IMO, and very pretty in the evenings.

Although I have stayed at POFQ and enjoyed it, it is our least favourite of the moderates due to lack of amenities.

Enjoy your trip!

I would be concerned regarding building work at csr
we've stayed at both and really liked both resorts.

I prefer pofq & dh likes csr better for swimming & fitness..
