I am taking my 79 year old mom (her first trip) to WDW Christmas week. Yes, I know it will be very busy then, but have no choice as son's high school band is marching down Main Street in MK on the 28th and I WILL NOT MISS IT! Anyways, she needs heart surgery in early spring for an aeorta problem, and I will be pushing her in a wheelchair at the parks. She also can't really do stairs much and needs to not get overly tired.

Right now we have a ressie at CSR, due to that being the only one available of the moderates when I booked about a month ago. Since then, other moderates have opened up and I can change to POFQ if I want (these are the two mods I am choosing between, don't care for the others). I am looking for opinions of which resort would be best under the circumstances. By the way, I have asked for a room in the Casitas, first floor, nearest the Pepper Market. What do you guys think?

POFQ is a smaller resort so if the size of the resort would assist in getting your mom around, it may be better. No guarantees that you get a room in the casitas.

when you call to change your reservation.

tell the CM MEDICAL REASONS - then explain about your mother's problems.

I think all the building at POFQ have elevators - not sure. that is something you need to check.

you can get a free wheelchair at the resort for use for your entire stay. Just ask - it is free. this is type you push. If you want a ECV for her - go visit the Disabilities board - there is at the top a list of places that will rent one to you.

these all fit on the WDW buses. All the WDW buses I have seem are handicapped access.

also remember that pushing the wheelchair is like doing weights. don't do it 2 days in a row (if you go with the free manual one) - make someone else in your family push her every other day. Or just go every other day.
