We have heard so many good things about this resort that we are thinking about it for our early december trip. We still had some questions-
How is the transportation to the parks? Do they share a bus with any other resorts? Will there be any decorations for Christmas up in the first week of Dec.? Is that a big convention month for this resort? Why do some people consider the resort so spread out if it's only a short (8min) walk to get to the pool?

CSR does not share bus transportation with any other resort. We were there 2 weeks ago and only used the buses 1 day - round trip to MK. We did not wait for a bus coming or going. In the morning when it appeared that the first bus was not going to fit all the guests waiting, another bus magically came around the corner and was empty. On return the bus was waiting for us when we left the MK.

Never been at Christmas but from what I understand the decorations go up right at Thanksgiving.

As far as conventions, there were two fairly large conventions going on while we were there. One was Case International Harvester. The only reason we knew this was because of the big shiny tractors on display in a parking lot. We saw people around the resort who were clearly there for the conventions but it in no way shape or form affected our enjoyment of the resort. Actually we liked seeing the big red shiny tractors.

As to why people think the resort is spread out I guess that depends on where you were staying. If I had to walk from the Ranchos to El Centro to get a cup of coffee in the am I might be a bit put out. But we stayed in Casistas 3 which was very close to the Pepper Market and about 6-8 minutes to the Dig Site. Very pleasant walks too. But if my kids were younger and getting tired of walking and I had to carry them, I might be singing a different tune.

Overall we loved this resort. The spaciousness was actually a very big positive for us. It was the first moderate we stayed in and between the atmosphere and the amenities we really felt we got a very big bang for our buck.

I have been there the last 2 Decembers and it was lovely. I think the fact that it is a convention center means that they splurge a bit more on decorations as they were beautiful, and in fact better than most of the other resorts, some deluxes included. In 2001 the resort was vacant with no conventions at all, but I attribute that to post 9-11 effect. This past year their were a couple of conventions, but they seemed small in scale. We have never been bothered by conventioners and believe that being a convention resort adds to it's perks: better ammenities, less traffic on buses, fewer people around the pool etc. To be honest though onr slight downsize is at the food court, Pepper Market, it can get busy at times.
