Is there a way to find out about any conventions being held at CSR in advance?

Are there some conventions that are hosted there annually?

How does the fact that they have a convention center affect guests who are not there for the conference?

And a side question, I've read that there is very little shade around CSR, is this true? I'm extremely fair-skinned, so this can be fairly important.

There are many conventions that are held there annually, just like the other convention resorts. There is a list somewhere but I don't remember where exactly. The convention center is way off to the side so you wouldn't find yourself accidentally walking by there. I love staying at convention hotels as the busses are quite empty, but I'm not crazy about working at one, haha.

We were there in April (and going back in August) and we had no problem finding shade to sit under, I'm sure you'll be fine. My company is going to one of the conventions in February held at CSR, I am hoping to be chosen to go:wizard: I will need alot of pixie dust!!! I am trying to remember where I saw the list of upcoming conventions.....when I remember I will post back!!

Thanks. We're not planning a trip for a few years yet, but I'm just gathering info now to see if CSR is even going to make our list of considerations. If anyone finds that list, I'd be very grateful.

Although...the plan is to get all of our debt paid off before the next trip and if we do that and get ahead, we may decide to really reward ourselves with a stay at a Deluxe.

Actually, I would never stay there again for that reason. First, I called the reservation desk to find out if there was a way to find out about any conventions going on while I was going to be staying there and was told that they have conventions all the time and they are booked through the convention line not through reservations so they have no way to tell. I never needed the bus service so I cannot comment on that but I know in the afternoon when I went back to the pool, there were alot of conventioneers around the pool with their goodie bags, talking business, wearing nametags, etc. It didn't feel like you were on vacation at all.

I think the CSR is beautiful but I am not crazy about the conventions.

We have never been bothered by the conventions. We've stayed at CSR six (soon to be seven) times and have no desire to stay anywhere else. There are conventions at other resorts as well--Contemporary, POR, etc. I think there has been a convention there five of the six times we have been there. They have never bothered us at the pool, in the restaurants, etc. In fact, one year I remember when they had an afternoon break and they were actually at the pool, they were playing basketball and invited our boys to join in. They were very pleasant.

But each person has their own view. I won't stay at the POR because of something we witnessed while having dinner there one night. But I feel each person should make their own choice. If an opinion is asked for, I will give it. But in the long run, the individual must do what is best for them.

If you choose to stay at the Coronado Springs, chances are there will be a convention of some sort going on.

However - YOU are on vacation. They are "working". They do talk business. They do wear name tags (what is the purpose one second after you leave a meeting room?). And they make me laugh all the time.

I actually came up with a game to play and you can adjust to your tastes (all these are walking around the grounds). One point for a person wearing a name tag. Two points for a person wearing a name tag and talking on a cell phone. Five points for a male wearing a suit and wearing a name tag. Five points for a female in a skirt and heels and wearing a name tag. Ten points for anyone carrying a briefcase.

I was told three companies book the whole resort each year. Some do comeback annually.

Here is a list I put together but does not represent all the conventions at CSR.
